Overall, great time!
I came here for a steamboat buffet based on a friend's recommendation, and I ended up pleasantly surprised.
The steamboat buffet soups here are prepared upon order (not like most steamboat buffet places where the soups are pre-made long before and kept in some drinks tupperware to be poured into a pot), so the flavour of the soups were rich and fresh. The flavours lasted throughout my 2 hours of boiling in it too; the flavour doesn't water down after cooking several batches of meat in it.
For my visit, I got the Tomyam soup and the Wolfberry Clam soup. The Tomyam soup tasted pretty good: it's much more on the sweeter side. The boss made it clear to me that - if there's a preference for it to be spicier - you can ask for it. On the other hand, the Wolfberry Clam soup was a no-joke: it's amazing, and you can really taste the lala. I really recommend trying the Wolfberry Clam soup!
The food selection (both the meats and the vegetables) was shockingly fresh along with some homemade preparations. I think that this elevated everything much more. There's a decent drink selection too, and there were even some side stuff to eat while waiting for everything to cook. All of the staff was friendly, and the boss was a really patient and engaging guy as he took his time to explain what I asked and to check from time-to-time if everything was satisfactory. I appreciated that a lot!
The place had a generally cosy vibe too (plus, clean and well-maintained!), so it's a great place for a catch-up with friends, or to just hangout to relax while eating. Interestingly, there's no 'steamboat smell' that most steamboat buffet places would have, so there must be some good ventilation too.
In terms of pricing, you're charged per buffet pax and the soups themselves. You get 2 hours (starting from the moment that the soup is served and that the steamboat stove is turned on). The steamboat stove cooks really fast once the heat gets started, so be mindful about that.
Because of everything, the overall value was really worth it for me with what's being offered for a steamboat buffet (especially when comparing the freshness of the selection and the pricing per pax with other steamboat buffet places in KL and Selangor).
A definite recommendation from me!
Note: Both "Steamboat Factory" and "Bliss Moment Cafe Hot Pot" are the same place. The place is situated above "iFruits Market (Kuchai Lama Branch)", so - next to iFruits - take the stairway up...

Steamboat Factory is a "coffee-shop" layout kind of steamboat restaurant, almost no-frills and rely on its soup-base and/or food quality type of steamboat set-up. Hence, my first impression when i step into the restaurant, juggling in my mind of 4 packages of all-you-can-eat ranging from RM28+, RM38+, RM48+ and RM78+, was wondering how can such set-up charge such prices or even survive with such pricing range.
The Positive elements of this place is that they do give good soup base - they have the premium types and the standard soup choice i.e. clear soup, tomato soup, tomyum soup and pig stomach pepper salted vege soup. We choose pig stomach pepper salted vege soup. Indeed, the soup is of good quality - just the right amount of pepper, and the salted vege blended with the pig stomach harmoniously. So the soup is thumbs-up. Its not the best that we have tried, but good enough to hold the fort.
The meat paste with choice of pork, chicken and fish... all three meat taste is good value for money and deliciously tasty as all are homemade type and not those ready made balls.
The meat slices - very thinly sliced and thats good and suitable for steamboat - easy and fast to cook. The chicken, though quite bland in taste, but veey smooth. The pork is ok as each slice has the right amount of fats. The beef is good, especially dip into their soy sauce, garlic and onion oil.
The prawns are tiger prawns (small size) but very fresh and taate sweet. The bamboo clams is just so so.
The negative elements are the vegetables selection is not good, as they only give two types i.e. wong ah pak (long cabbage) and lettuce. Only the wong ah pak is replenished.
Beverage, its just chinese tea, plain water and pre-mix cordial. They do have chendol and some cooked food.
Therefore, as it is a place to have good soup base steamboat, and if you are staying in Cheras area, its ok to eat there. Else, if compared to the likes of Fei Fan Hotpot and Rokyu, their price range are plus-minus the same and these are more...
Read moreJust tried Xi Lao Guo in Kuchai and I’m super impressed! If you love seafood buffet steamboat, this place is a must-visit. They offer unlimited fresh seafood, a wide range of hotpot ingredients, BBQ options, and even a small café menu — everything in one spot! 🦐🦀
The seafood is fresh and sweet — prawns, clams, fish slices, everything tasted really good. I also love that their meat platters are sliced perfectly thin so they cook fast and stay tender. The variety is great, and you can mix and match different soup bases to make your own perfect hotpot combo.
If you sign up for their free membership, you get to enjoy the buffet at around 5️⃣9️⃣+/pax, which I think is totally worth it for what you get. The place is clean, cozy, and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience enjoyable.
Definitely coming back again! If you’re looking for a seafood steamboat buffet around Kuchai, this is the spot to try....
