Summer Bakes' — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

The cakes here are really good! Most of the flavours are tea-based, but the ones I ordered for takeaway were the Ovaltine Choco Peppermint (RM15) and Lychee Rose (RM15).

Lychee Rose - very refreshing with a cake base that is light and fluffy. The cream was tasty but for me there was too much cream. Interestingly, they have popping yoghurt balls in the cream layers!

Ovaltine Choco Peppermint - cake base a little more crumbly than the lychee one. The cream has a nice malt chocolate flavour & seemed to have less cream than the lychee one. Love the Ovaltine pudding in the cream layer! Peppermint flavour is quite light, which is a bit of a con for a mint lover as myself.

I didn’t dine in, but the cafe is rather small and offers a small selection of coffee and tea. Other dessert options include cream puffs...

The cake is very beautiful and delicate, and the price and taste are acceptable. I bought the cake to take away, and it only takes 10 minutes to get home. The process of taking it home is uninterrupted, meaning that after buying the cake, I get in the car, go home, and immediately open it to eat. Of course, eating the cake is not done in one bite; it's savored slowly. However, after just two bites, the cream on the cake has already started to melt. This type of cream gives a greasy feeling when eaten... The whole cake becomes unpleasant because of the melted cream. I initially thought it was my taste preference, but after reading reviews, I realized that others have experienced similar situations.

Tried the Pandan Taro Sponge Cake and cream puff and I am truly disappointed. It's so sweet and the sponge is so sandy in texture. My friend and I tried and said the same thing. Took like 3 bites and couldn't eat it any longer. The cream in the cream puff is also not good. The cream has a oily texture at the end and no, it's not because of the whipped cream as I know my whipped cream well. It's more like a planta oily after taste and leaves the lips having layer. Truly a waste of my money. Also please improve on service. Server could give a smile and speak more politely and be more...
