The Rice | 米飯人家 — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

I got attracted by the big photos of their dishes on the front door, initially wasn't expecting much looking at the Google reviews rating, but it actually turned out to be great experience! Nice ambience, quiet, with piano music (Disney songs) playing in the background, making you relaxed. I ordered the Tomyam Fried Rice with Luncheon Meat set that comes with a herbal soup of my choice. Taste was surprisingly good, especially the soup which I could see it has been slow-cooked for a very long time. The portion is just nice, in fact quite generous for the soup - the bowl is as big as the rice, really worth the price! The waitress at the front area (her name is Xue if I remember correctly) was very attentive, but not the pushy type - she greeted the customers as soon as they walk in; she also waited patiently on the side while keeping an eye for my call when I'm ready to order, and explained to me in advance that there is no meat served in the soup. That's the best and most comfortable kind of service that one...

I rarely put a bad review on Google, but this time I’m disappointing. Firstly, I would say their Mala soup is nice. That’s why I decide to come here for the second time.

BUT, when I arrive, a waiter says there is no place to sit, so I say we can wait. That time is 8.03pm, he said their last order is 8.15pm. Actually there still have empty seats to sit, just need to move the empty table separate with customers. I suggest him like that way, but he seems so embarrassed and don’t want to do so. Emm.. so how? Telling me 8.15pm is last order and no places for us when you HAVE a way to arrange for us. (So .. 那我走？🤦🏼‍♀️ ) This makes me feel like you are not welcoming us to reduce your workload. We feel so bad about this.

If it really fulls house, I will understand. The reason I feel angry is the attitude of waiter, not willing to help us when he can do so. Just hope this situation will not...

Great ambiance with good food at a reasonable price.

This is the second time we visited this shop during lunch hour, and it was full house again. We decided to wait and were given a menu and an order form to fill out. Halfway through filling out the form, we were directed to an available table and told by a lady to scan the QR code. Since we had already filled out the order form, we asked if we could just hand it to her. She patiently explained that self-ordering is easier and encouraged us to do so. However, we wondered why we needed to redo the whole ordering process. She was kind enough to accept our order and clarify an item we had ordered incorrectly.
