It seemed like a popular cafe that opened at 11 am and when we were shown our way upstairs, the place was already 70% full at 11:05 am!

The food section of the menu is fully inspired by Japanese cooking with mostly fusion dishes. So we went along and ordered mostly the fusion types with the exception of the big breakfast that was named Farmer's Plate. There are also some very interesting coffee drinks with very interesting names. Apparently they have a few award winning or entries in competitions on selection. A bevy of coffee art was also a part of the selection.

Farmer's Plate The food started on shaky ground with this plate. Everything was mostly bland except for the unappetizing look of the grilled mushroom on this plate of scrambled eggs, beef bacon and sausages. That piece of mushroom was really tasty with its natural umami flavor comes to the forefront, mingling with the smoky char from the grill. Its meaty interior had a juicy tenderness to the bite.

10 inch Unagi Pizza With a sprinkle of cubed Unagi in teriyaki sauce set against the cheesy but crispy pizza bread, you get the best of both worlds. Just imagine the tantalizing sweetness of the teriyaki infused unagi adding more character to the mozzarella cheese. All of this is further enhanced by the oceanic umami flavor of the nori on top. Perhaps only one complaint is warranted - too little Unagi.

Tuna Tataki Soba Coming off from the farmer's plate and then the pizza, my first bite of the soba noodle was quite bland. As I dig deeper into it, the flavors slowly revealing themselves to me. The ponzu based sauce was citrussy and complemented well with heaps of nori on top once you have given the noodle a thorough toss up. As for the lightly seared tuna, we're not in Japan so no expectation at all to its taste.

Gomayaki Beef Steak Udom It was fried udon with sesame sauce that had adequate wok hey. A small surprise in the form of orange zest gave this dish a slight tangy taste that works well with the nutty taste of the udon that is soaked with the sesame sauce. The Angus beef steak surprisingly lacked that beefy flavor and did not contribute much to the dish.

Coffee Rum Cheesecake Those rum jelly embedded within the cheesecake somehow elevates the taste of this piece of cheesecake. The alcohol is like a flavor carrier that adds a touch of bitterness to the richness of the cheesecake. A very pleasant complex of tastes is achieved with this combination.

As for the coffee, mine was a fancy Dragon's Mist that tasted more like an orange juice than a coffee. It was still a sight to behold and being the sucker that I always am, I ordered it just for...

Brew☕️ N View👀 5th Brew with IamJASON Location📍:103 Coffee Date: 30 Aug 2024 Café Review: 103 Coffee – Where Latte Art Meets the Soul

As a barista who lives and breathes coffee, stepping into 103 Coffee feels like walking into a shrine for caffeine enthusiasts. Not only is the staff here friendly and polite, but the environment is also the epitome of cozy—perfect for chitchatting with friends or spending a lazy Sunday doing absolutely nothing, which is an art in itself.

Desserts: A Sweet (and Slightly Boozy) Affair

Let’s dive straight into the desserts, shall we? First up, the Rum N Raisin cake—a boozy little number that’s practically a dessert and a nightcap all in one. The moment a small piece hits your tongue, the rich aroma of rum and chocolate takes over, with the occasional raisin popping in to say, “Hey, I’m here to make this even better!” The cake balances a boozy kick with a touch of raisin’s tartness and a chocolatey finish. A solid 7/10 for this one.

Next, the Strawberry Yogurt Cheesecake. Let’s just say I have a bit of a soft spot for cheesecake (read: I’d marry one if I could). The tangy strawberry yogurt elevates this classic dessert to new heights. It’s like a cool breeze on a hot day—refreshing and absolutely delightful. This one gets a well-deserved 9/10.

Drinks: The Morning Ritual

Now, onto the drinks. I opted for the Barista Breakfast, which includes the Bean of the Day espresso and a latte. The latte art? On point. I chose a nutty bean because I’m not into the sour stuff—though today’s bean had a hint of orange that made the espresso unexpectedly refreshing.

As for the latte, the foam was so smooth it could’ve been silk, and the nutty aroma lingered around my mouth like a hug in a mug. It was almost too good—like, “I need a moment” good. (Just kidding, but seriously, it was close.) This coffee set was something special, a true highlight of my day.

Overall Vibes

In summary, 103 Coffee is a gem, and I’ll definitely be back. The desserts are indulgent, the coffee is top-notch, and the atmosphere? Perfect for whatever your heart desires. Whether you’re a latte art lover, a cheesecake fanatic, or just someone looking to spend some quality time with a great cup of coffee, this place has got you covered.

ITS BUSSIN’.

Heyo it’s Solarance again and this time I found this place after a failed attempt to eat at another popular place cuz the food was sold out 😢 so my friend Ms C decided to introduce me to another shop that sells food that’s just as good 👍🏻 and thus we found this place after a 10-15 minute walk.. hope the food was worth it? Parking is hell though..

I happily have to say, the food here is quite delicious.. presentation is spot on and the atmosphere is wonderful! Very rustic. And the toilet! Wonderfully clean! Well done!

So here are some comments on the food

1- the vegetarian udon is amazingly light, delicious and super generous on the amount of mushrooms you got! The flavour of the soup is super umami ❤️❤️ I ate everything in that bowl and god it was money well spent! I’d order again if I ever had the chance again! 5/5 best udon vegetarian

2- according to my friend Mr K and Mr Y, they said the carbonara is good 👍🏻 flavours are there and texture is delectable 4/5 from them

3- my bestie Ms C went with her usual smoked duck spaghetti haha.. she loves it.. the smokiness of the duck is to die for and the flavours are well complimented with the duck! Well done on this.. 5/5 from her cuz it’s her favourite 😂

4- we all ordered one pizza to share and omg it’s to die for! The unaminess of the pizza is delicious, light and crispy. I wish I wasn’t that full or I’d devour that pizza~ well done! 5/5 the perfect pizza!

5- toilets are amazingly clean! Smells nice and has a bidet! Well done!

6- price wise, I admit it’s a bit above average so honestly not someplace I would wanna go repeatedly. But when u do go there, try the coffee.. as u can see from the pic, it’s uniquely presented and they’re gorgeous 👍🏻

Oh forgot to mention, if u spend more than RM 100, u get a free pizza...
