Came over because ShinZushi is always full and this place thank god is slightly better because you don’t have to queue outside the shop under hot sun.
However this place is quite new and the parking area is EXTREMELY confusing and huge. We had to really drive around to understand the parking level.
the shop itself is really smaller than what picture can show. So still need to wait around 20-30 but seated.
We came quite late so we got the big round table and it is where I felt like they didn’t consider some of the service well. the kitchen is at the center and the tables are around the kitchen area. So when customers are seated around the table (requires to take off shoes to be seated) the waiters couldn’t deliver the food so the chefs has to pass the food to us directly… so what’s the point of having waiters around?
And because that one round table has only two person at my table. The waiter had to step into my dining area (on the fixed chair) to receive the food for other tables……. This is really odd and unpleasant….
I believe the owner didn’t really think with design thinking on this Interior design…. and not to mention, when the waiter receive the food across the round tables, they had to bend down because the kitchen area is at a lower level than where the waiters walk. not only this is very weird to see but so tiring for those working!
This whole scene was in my head the entire time I was eating so I didn’t pay much attention to the food. Ofc it was good and had the same quality as shin zushi.
The reviews in Google is so consistently good I felt the need to speak the truth. I honestly believe that their sushi can be made better if they could use less mayonnaise and sweet soy sauce at times. it was so heavily sauced I couldn’t taste the fish or prawn or fish roe and it saddened me :( where you scared that the fish were not as fresh so you use more sauce to cover the smell or do you want to use those heavy sauces to attract...
Read moreI love the food here, I also love the environment but after what I experienced yesterday I think the management needs to better manage their dine-in time and have a cut-off for diners entering.
My partner and I reached at 7.25pm yesterday and were told we have to wait for around an hour to be seated. Which we were fine with, we walked around the vicinity and returned to the restaurant at 8.30pm, to which we were told that there were NINE(9) more tables before us. I was dumbfounded because when we put our names there, we were not told of how many persons were waiting before us.
We dawdled a bit more until 9pm, assuming we'd finally be let in – to which their staff told us that there are FIVE (5) more tables before our turn. When asked, how much dining time we would have, the staff said "Oh, only 20-30 mins because we have to close". Needless to say, we left.
It is already bad enough that a good 75% of Millerz Square parking are reserved – parking onsite is insanely difficult, but if you have a set dining time for each group of customers, knowing that you will not be able to accommodate any more until closing; your staff should be better trained to DECLINE any more customers instead of telling us to indefinitely wait for our turn.
I have walked in to so many venues with long wait-lists but once they know that they are full, they close off the list for the night. But not here, they keep accepting customers knowing their small venue cannot accommodate anymore for the night.
Do better UO Shin if your Shin Zushi counterparts...
Read moreI had lunch at UO Shin at Millers Square, and it was a delightful experience! This cozy Japanese restaurant has a charming, authentic vibe with its high ceilings, wooden tables, cement walls, and touches of greenery. The sushi bar is right in the center of the open kitchen, and you can choose between small round tables or group tables that fit up to four.
Every corner of this small eatery is photogenic—perfect for capturing those Instagram-worthy shots! Though I noticed plenty of chairs near the entrance, it’s likely a hotspot during peak hours. I was lucky to come around 3 PM and didn’t have to wait for a table.
UO Shin specializes in fancy sushi, from single pieces to full sushi sets, all freshly prepared right at the sushi bar. There are only a few hot dishes and noodles available, making it an ideal spot for a quick and authentic sushi fix. The staff hands over the dishes directly from the bar, adding to the casual and interactive dining experience.
I ordered the Tamago Mentai Don (RM13), Salmon UO Temari (RM14), RST Sushi Zen (RM31), Awabi SS (RM22), and Volcano Sushi (RM13). For two people, our total was RM107.90, including 6% SST and a 10% service charge. The prices were reasonable, and the quality was excellent—fresh and delicious.
Highly recommend for a quick lunch or a solo sushi craving. Looking forward to my...
