I've heard of Vin's since like 15 years ago, but it was my 1st time here with my girlfriends and I'm glad they liked it, too. If you're a vegetarian, don't worry, plenty of options. I love the ambience here. We went on a Sunday late evening, it was quiet and a healthy space for loud chit chat. Yes, we were so loud, but we were having so much fun while enjoying the drinks and food and I must say, although we were the centre of attention, the staff were all very nice and friendly. The food was heavenly, we enjoyed every single bit of everything we had. From the nachos to the pizza ... A week later, I took my family. It was a golden opportunity and I couldn't miss it. We went on the BBQ day so it was pretty crowded for a Sunday noon. They made patties for burgers, had hotdogs and lasagna at a stand outside. Apparently it's a once a month thingy. I came particularly for the pizza so that my son could enjoy it, but their machine was faulty. Because we came twice and the same things happened, they offered him a vanilla cake, so sweet of them and that thing was incredibly tasty. He loved it. Anyway, he ordered the burger as a meal, one huge burger and truly savoured it. The hot dog was not really up to expectations, but everything else from the meatball to the prawn something-something was to die for. We ordered bites and we enjoyed every moment. I even met the owner. Such a lovely lady. Pricey yes, but worth it! ❤️

The high reviews are most likely from their 2011-2015 days. Worst Italian restaurant so far. Crab cakes and pumpkin soup were promising but it went downhill from there - to the point that I thought I was being pranked. Plates left uncleared for 20 minutes, pasta took 30 mins to arrive. Ordered beef and prawn pasta and was met with an absolute soggy mess as per the photo. If you can’t cook al dante pasta then please do not operate an Italian restaurant. After the soggy mess and overcooked prawns, we had to ask for the bill 4x in total. Waiter came with a credit card machine and the bill, we passed our card and he said that their card machine has a problem - and asked if we could pay cash. Bill was RM170+, we paid RM200 - and the waiter asked for small change - which we didn’t have. After paying, another waiter comes over with the bill and a credit card machine. There were less than 10 tables being served so we couldn’t understand the confusion. We waited for some time again and staff later on told us that they had to get change from another place as they don’t have change. Shocked at the lack of coordination among the wait staff. Terrible service, pathetic food - never again.

The restaurant has 2 floors. We were privileged to have dined on the upper floor - it was cosy, quiet & with attentive & friendly staff. Special mention on Atiq, who attended to us, & followed up if the dishes were fine as well as assisted us on the selection of dishes. It was a celebration, the house wine, Moscato, was chilled & smooth to the palette. For starters, the beetroot meatballs were well made & flavoured with ample gravy to dip the bread. This dish was a pleasant surprise. Next was the Porcini Mascaporne Mushroom Pappardelle. The base was flavourful. However, the Pappardelle was thick. The Basil Mozarella with Walnut Pesto Pizza was refreshing, the base was thin, and the walnut pesto was drizzled with honey. The rosemary scented fries with homemade dip was a perfect side dish. Instead of the rosemary sprig, it should have separated the leaves & sprinkled it for more flavour. The dessert was the Guanaja Chocolate Cake with Sea Salt. It was decadent, creamy & velvety smooth with the ganache oozing when sliced, perfectly accompanied by the berries sauce with dried orange peel, nuts & mint with mascaporne on the side. Loved the ambience & the food.

Nestled in the heart of the city, this Italian restaurant offers a dining experience that is both charming and polished, though not without its imperfections. From the moment we were seated, the ambiance struck the right note—elegant yet inviting. The table setups were thoughtfully arranged, aligning well with the restaurant’s mid-to-upper price point. Crisp linens, gleaming cutlery, and soft lighting set the stage for what promised to be a pleasant meal.

The meal began with a misstep: the soup. Sadly, it was a lackluster opener, watered down and devoid of the robust flavor and texture one expects from Italian cuisine. It was a disappointing start, but fortunately, the mains more than made up for it. The chicken dish was tender and well-seasoned, but the true star of the evening was the lamb ragout. The ragout was a masterclass in balance—rich, deeply flavorful, and paired with freshly made pappardelle that was cooked to al dente perfection. Each bite of the pasta had that satisfying bite, a testament to the kitchen’s skill and attention to detail.

Dessert, however, was a mixed bag. The menu offered only three options, none of which particularly excited us. Still, craving something sweet, we opted for the toffee and mascarpone pecan. While passable, it lacked the finesse that would have elevated the meal to a truly exceptional experience.

Service, unfortunately, was the evening’s Achilles’ heel. While the staff appeared well-meaning and eager to assist when approached, their attentiveness and service knowledge left much to be desired. After finishing our mains, we waited quite some time before anyone offered us the dessert menu. When we finally flagged down a server, the first two staff members we approached seemed unsure of how to handle our request. One male staff member, in particular, appeared genuinely confused but remained helpful, though his occasional snickering suggested a lack of training rather than a reluctance to assist. This moment underscored a clear need for better training—not only in menu knowledge but also in the finer points of customer interaction and service flow. From a business perspective, there’s significant room for improvement in upselling and ensuring a more polished dining experience. It seems the issue lies more in a lack of training and service expertise rather than any unwillingness or attitude problem, as the staff appeared genuinely willing to help when engaged.

The wine selection, while decent, suffered from a technical flaw. The Malbec red was served far too chilled, as if it had been pulled straight from a regular refrigerator rather than stored at the ideal 15-18°C temperature for red wine.

At RM260 for one appetizer, two glasses of wine, two mains, and two desserts, the pricing felt reasonable given the overall quality of the food and the ambiance. However, if the price were to creep any higher, I would expect a significant improvement in service quality and attention to detail.

In summary, this Italian restaurant delivers a solid dining experience with flashes of brilliance, particularly in its mains. With a bit more finesse in the kitchen, better-trained staff, and a more thoughtful approach to wine service, it has the potential to be a standout destination. For now, it remains a worthwhile visit, especially for those seeking a well-executed lamb ragout and a taste of Italian...

⚠️ Disclaimer ⚠️ Don't come here for a birthday party and don't come here in a big group.

Was in a group of 12 for a birthday party. The restaurant successfuly failed in every step you could think of:

1- they forgot the order of the person who booked. They served food for 11 people except the guy who ordered

2- when we told them, they made a mistake and re entered the order, so the bill was wrong and his food was served after they cleaned the food of everyone else

3- All the pastas were over cooked, to the point where it was too hot and mushy. The pumpkin soup was basically cream and water ? I couldn't notice the pumpkin at all.

4- A Muslim Malay guy in our group asks for a coffee, the waiter suggested him an Irish coffee without mentioning that an Irish coffee has alcohol and without disclosing the price, that was very awkward and the they didn't offer to take it away or strike it from the bill.

5- since it's a surprise birthday (we informed them) we gave them 2 cakes and asked to keep the cakes in the chiller. The waiter went to the group and loudly asked, who's the birthday person and where should he serve the cake 🤦‍♂️

6- when they served the birthday cakes, they served them without any candles, they even said that they couldn't find any candles. So we asked them to check again and they found the candles... Still they didn't light them up until we explicitly asked them to do so. This is an Italian restaurant and birthday parties are pretty common in western themed restaurants, but it seems that the staff was never trained to handle birthdays before.

7- the gave us the wrong bill and upon checking they had to bring a calculator and refund the extra amount back in cash, the guy got really confused with the math, so we had to help him do the accounting 🤷

To be honest, as we kept noticing the failures in this restaurant, by the end of the evening everyone was laughing and enjoying the dark humour.

After we left, People started making jokes around the how "successful Vin's Restaurant was at failing their customers".

Finally, it seems like this restaurant will serve you free desert if you leave a 5 stars review, hence the high score on their listing. I guess people have no shame when it comes to...
