This dim sum place is relatively new in the neighbourhood and from the exterior I wouldn’t think it’s a dim sum place but instead a fancy place for tea and Chinese dishes 😅
As you step into the restaurant, the interior gives off China and old Shanghai vibes and feel which I really like 😍 Besides dim sum, they also offer many other Chinese dishes like noodles and rice.
🍤 Fried “Lychee” Shrimp Ball (RM29.90/8pcs) 🥟 Box of Palace (RM31.90 - 9pcs of different dim sum) 🍜 Truffle Flying Prawn Noodle (RM49.90) 🥣 Breakfast Set (RM21.90) - comes with 2 x Shredded Chicken Porridge, 1 x Fried Noodles, 1 x You tiao and 1 x Steamed cake (Ma Lai Gao) 🫖 Chinese tea (RM10/pot)
As soon as you’re seated, you’ll be asked to choose your tea and the staff will prep it using the teapot set ready on each table.
When the lychee shrimp balls came we were stunned as how beautifully presented they were. They literally came on a bonsai tree 😂 We could sense the whole shop looking at us as that tree was placed on our table. Later on, we saw few other tables ordered it too. Haha. They tasted as good as they look, freshly deep fried and good amount of shrimp and not just flour.
The Box of Palace is a great set to order if you wanna try many varieties or dim sum but afraid you won’t be able to finish. Great for 2-3 pax.
Truffle flying noodles was tasty and prawn pretty big 😋 The breakfast set was very comforting meal as those are all the Chinese breakfast classics which I personally love! I used to watch HK dramas and envied their breakfast spread which had all these food. Haha
This is not your typical commercialized dim sum place but a place that evokes a sense of warmth, reunion and tradition - a place where you can have a good time with your families and friends while enjoying the beautifully crafted dim sum...
Read moreCame here because it was recommended on social media and was attracted to the very instagrammable "lychee tree" dish. My friends heard pretty good reviews about the place and we decided to check it out on a Sunday morning. When we reached about 10+, the place was quite crowded and there were several groups ahead of us waiting outside. Didn't take very long though when we were ushered into the restaurant and given a table pretty near the cashier and entrance. First time encountering a shop that doesn't sell cheap tea and had to select from a variety of more atas tea leaves from a particular supplier, maybe because of some collaboration. Quite a lot of things we wanted to try, so took some time to order, also was because the order system was kinda cranky, for a while didn't allow us to add items into the cart so had to get out of the website and rescan the QR code a couple of times to get it working. The place looks rather new, and the dim sum here is pretty decent, quite good I must say. If you look near the kitchen entrance you might mistake for a long tabletop with bonsai but actually was the prop "tree" for one of the dishes. The lychee shrimp ball was the instagrammable dish and was also the eye catcher and highlight. Tasted pretty good, interesting combination never tried before. We ordered quite a bit and everything was good no complaints about it. Portion was also rather decent every item was suitable for 3 pax to share. The place looks quite high end but so weird the cutlery used were plastic bowls and plates it felt kinda out of place. Decent place worth try do drop by for yamcha if you are...

I visited Yuan Yuan Tea House in Kuchai Lama today, and it completely exceeded my expectations for dim sum! They collaborate with the renowned tea brand Yu Yan, offering tea with an incredible aroma that perfectly complements their exquisite dim sum, making the entire meal an absolute joy.
Every dish served in bamboo steamers was a delightful surprise: Xiao Long Bao: Thin skin, juicy filling, and rich broth—each bite was unforgettable. Har Gao (Shrimp Dumplings): Transparent, delicate wrappers filled with fresh, springy shrimp—a true burst of flavor. Crab Roe Siu Mai: The crab roe adds an elegant touch to the plump, flavorful pork filling. Black Truffle Siu Mai: Luxurious and aromatic, the truffle perfectly blends with the meat—a must-try dish! Bean Curd Skin Rolls: Crispy on the outside, packed with savory fillings—every bite was crafted with care. Chee Cheong Fun (Rice Noodle Rolls): Silky and smooth, paired with their homemade chili sauce—it’s a dish I’ll keep coming back for.
The tea here is truly the soul of the restaurant! Every pot of Yu Yan tea was aromatic and rich, cutting through the richness of the food while enhancing the flavors of each dish. By the end of the meal, not only were my taste buds satisfied, but my spirits were lifted as well.
The price is incredibly reasonable for the quality—fresh ingredients and generous portions make it a fantastic value. If you’re a fan of dim sum or love a good cup of tea, this spot will undoubtedly become your next go-to...
