In all fairness, the service team was awesome and efficient. BUT I had the worst pork bone soup and chrysanthemum greens (tong hou) here! The pork bone soup had a kind of awful smell and taste which amplifies with certain ingredient (such as the tong hou), probably from the pork ingredient...?? We also tried the mala & mushrooms soup base, which were equally unimpressive. Of the three soup base, only the mala soup was passable even for me who can't take much chili or hot food. You guys really need to improve your soup.
The tong hou with thick stem was super tough, unlike all other ones I had in the past everywhere else...
The prawn paste meatballs were quite a disappointment. They weren't awful but when compared, they were the lowest in taste ranking of all other fresh prawn paste/meatball I've ever had.
The slice meats (we had lamb and pork) were good though.
They offer quite an extensive variety of condiments to choose from and refilled constantly, at the price of RM2/pax. I'm biased because I love sesame and peanut sauce! The water chestnut drink was rather refreshing.
All in all, I'm sorry to say but if I wanted hotpot, I wouldn't want to come...
Read moreThe service is above average. The waitress are very attentive and friendly. I personally feel 微辣less spicy(you can choose you own spicy intensity for the spicy soup paste) is already quite spicy and numb. the peanut sauce is authentic and good. 蒜拌黄瓜 They serve the Garlic cucumber mixed with alot of peppercorn oil, which really numbs your tongue when you eat the cucumber. Not my kind of dishes cause it's too oily. The red sugar glutinous rice 红糖糍粑 is crispy on the outside with adequate sweetness inside. The homemade toufu taste average, it is not those smooth kind, alittle rough, go best with the tomatoes soup paste. Homade noodles is good, and the portion is big. We order one bowl of plain rice, and turn out a big bowl of white rice unexpectedly. Chives minced pork dumplings are authentic, worth the price. we had beef slices and pork slices which both are fresh and tender. Best when you eat them fast, cause the meet went too soft and easily break into pieces when we only cook it after a while. Spend RM 200 and above will be given a free spicy hotpot, which contains chicken, seafood toufu, cauliflower,...
Read moreShu San Guo Hotpot is a Three Kingdoms themed restaurant, serves up Sichuan spicy hotpot. The spicy-and-numbing hot pot soup is made from loads of chilies, Sichuan pepper, doubanjiang and numerable other aromatics and spices that is cooked down with oil into a spice base. That base is then mixed with a broth—usually a pork and/or beef broth, but chicken is also good.
For Sichuan Hot Pot and noodle lover, this place is good enough. The waitress - English speaking, not local or China Chinese. Menu are explained very well and polite. The mala soup which I think was adjusted to suit Malaysian taste as the numbness was low as compared to Hot Pot in Sichuan and also probably due to expensive import of China pepper. The spiciness was medium.
As for the non-spicy soup, it was tasty and good. Presentation were good. Wanton noodle and pork ribs was the choice. The noodle and meat portion is not balanced. Ended up not finishing the noodle. Felt guilty for wasting food at the end. Restaurant cleanliness was good which has the strong hint of how restaurant in China...
