Olive Baker — Restaurant in Malacca

I came here for breakfast with my parents today. Upon arrival, we were given a place to sit immediately as there wasn't any crowd.

Food has to be ordered at the counter. The menu variety is just nice - basically a variety of toasts and drinks.

We ordered the sets - Coffee Walnut Toast Butter Kaya + Kopi C + 2pcs Half Boiled Eggs (RM12.20/set) ~ the toast was ok, no significant coffee taste and any very minimal walnuts on it, tiny bits.

Wholemeal Butter Kaya + Kopi C + 2pcs Half Boiled Eggs (RM11.60) ~ another simple toast with the Kopi C.

Whole Meal Chicken Ham with Kopi O (RM11.90) ~ also another simple toast with ham, salad leaf, cheese and tomatoes in it.

Disappointed with one factor - service. The kopi given to us was a bit intense. We requested to add in a bit of evaporated milk and were willing to add on the price - BUT the waiter declined us roughly and said cannot add milk, if you want hot water or condensed milk. We are asking not to make it sweet or watery, instead to make it a bit milkier. The way she turned us down was not nice and quite rude.

Overall, I think the place is a bit overpriced for simple kopitiam food choices, and service as per my experience wasn't good. The atmosphere was nice, decorated in a rustic way with olden days of electronics and wooden furniture.

Do I recommend? Hmm, not really. There are better...

A cafe that uses nutritious and healthy toasts/buns for all their menu. It is all whole grain bread, multi gran toasts or bun, jujube toast etc. All breads are handmade by the owners.

We tried a few variety such as wheat grain with Black sesame, multi grain bread with fish fillet, Chicken burger (multigrain bun was used), Jujube toast with Kaya butter. All were delicious, they seemed to make their own chicken patty as it was infused with a very fragant herb or spice that I have not tasted it elsewhere. Black sesame seems to be a favourite here as I see alot of customers especially the females ordered this. Coffee is very nice and thick.

Don't expect too much service as it is run by a middle age couple, they are very busy taking orders and...

Delicious freshly made bread toasts. They have red date bread kaya toast. The bread is lovely with the fragrance of dates. Soft boiled Kampung eggs are done perfectly. The Otah and Fish in wholemeal bun sandwich is very satisfying. The bread is fluffy, perfectly toasted and has great texture. The otah used in the sandwich toast is very lemak. Highly recommended.

Seating in beautiful environment. Place is spacious and cooling inside with clean toilet and hand washing area.

Please return your own cups and plates on a tray...
