Yi Poh Restaurant is well-known for its Yi Poh Lo C Fun (Mice Noodles), though it differs from the Ipoh version—it feels more like Lai Fun. Perhaps it’s a regional variation, but the taste could use some improvement.
Food Review:
✅ Portion Size – The servings are quite sufficient, making it a filling meal. 🔹 Lo C Fun – Different from the Ipoh version, but the flavor could be better. 🔹 Toast – A bit disappointing, as it was neither crispy nor crunchy. ✅ Soft-Boiled Egg – Perfectly done! Definitely a highlight. ✅ Egg Tarts – Not bad, worth trying.
Drinks:
🔹 Teh Ice – Not up to expectations. The tea used has an astringent taste, which suggests lower-quality Ceylon tea. Some improvement is needed for the price.
Service & Atmosphere:
✅ QR Ordering System – Convenient and efficient, making the ordering process smooth. ✅ Wide Food Selection – Plenty of options, including vegetarian choices, which is a plus.
Overall, Yi Poh Restaurant has a decent selection of food, but some dishes—especially the Lo C Fun, toast, and drinks—could be refined for a better dining experience. The soft-boiled eggs and egg tarts stand out, and the QR ordering system adds convenience. With some minor improvements, it could be a more satisfying...
Read moreDrove from KL just to try this and although I wasn't disappointed but neither was I wowed. One thing I must say first is that the set meal is super value for money. It's $15.90rm for a noodles, 3 wantons and a glass of herbal tea. I added another 3rm for 3 giant meat balls, which were quite good actually. But of course, the keypoint here is the longer than expected Lao Shu Fen (mouse tail noodles)! It looks really good and coated well with the dark sauce and minced pork. The noodles was definitely a thumbs up from me, but the minced meat was just ok. Nothing fancy... And just enough to let me have a good lunch at 1.30pm, that was pretty crowded by the time I left. Wanton was not bad too, so was the herbal tea, which was good for a hot afternoon, combined with the nice air con environment! There are so many good things about this place (incl the carpark), and I would have easily given a 5 stars too. So overall, just lacking that but of punch to give a knock 5! So in all, this is a good 8 out of 10. I am likely to come back again in the future, but probably not to drive 1 hr just for...
Read moreYi Poh offers a delightful surprise for fans of Hakka cuisine. Their Loh Shi Fun (Hakka noodles) are the true stars of the show: exceptionally flavourful and cooked to perfection. While the portions might be a tad on the smaller side, the taste and quality definitely pack a punch.
The peppery soup that accompanies the noodles deserves special mention - it's perfectly balanced, offering a pleasant warmth without overpowering the delicate flavours of the noodles. Additionally, the service was prompt and attentive, ensuring a smooth dining experience.
The airy and well-ventilated restaurant provides a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, with plenty of tables to accommodate different group sizes.
If you're in the area and craving delicious Hakka delights, Yi Poh is definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared for potentially smaller portions compared to other eateries.
Overall, a great experience! I would definitely return for another taste of their incredible Loh Shi Fun if I happen to be...
