辣妹火锅 云顶半山 LAMEI HOTPOT GOHTONG JAYA GENTING HIGHLANDS — Restaurant in Pahang

I booked the dome one month in advance because I wanted to make sure we could get the outdoor dome. When we arrived, told them our reservation and indeed our reservation with the word “dome” was written on their paper, but I could already tell that something was not right when all the staff seem to worriedly look at all the outdoor domes which were fully occupied. All the guests at the outdoor domes were still in the midst of eating with no sign of anyone leave soon, but the staff told us to wait 10 mins as the guests at our table was settling the bill. They told us to have a sit somewhere else first and look at the menu while waiting for our table. I asked the staff again, “they (the guests at our table) are settling the bill now?” and the staff said “yes”. After waiting for 20 mins, we saw that the there was no sign of anyone leaving from the outdoor dome, but instead, staff were cleaning up the indoor dome (there is one dome indoor but it serves no purpose because if you look out and up from that indoor dome, all you see is the other indoor tables / the ceiling of the shop - we booked the outdoor dome to be able to see the sky). Shortly after, the staff told us that our table at indoor dome is ready and led us there. No explanation and no signs of apology. We knew that they screwed up and nothing could be done at that point, but we weren’t happy that they did not even give us any explanation or apologize, so we asked them how come our table got changed to this indoor one. Then only the staff admit that it was their communication error and they mistakenly let others take our table without realizing that it clashes with our reservation time. The staff then apologized and gave us some complimentary starters after that. But honestly, it really ruined our trip as we booked that place for the experience. Not only we didn’t get to experience the outdoor dome, food tasted very normal but it was very pricey. Felt like a wasted trip and really disappointed especially with their management because our advance reservation...

Overpriced, underwhelming food — but the terrible service is what truly ruined it.

We came here hoping for a good hotpot meal, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish.

First, the food was not worth the high price. The pork had a strong unpleasant smell, and the rest of the ingredients were just average at best. Nothing stood out, and definitely not the kind of place you’d want to return to.

But what really pushed me to write this review was the poor service. When we arrived, the staff immediately told us to park behind another car, blocking it in. I asked, “What if the other car needs to leave later?” The staff ignored me, so I assumed the blocked car belonged to someone from the restaurant.

Halfway through our meal, they came over and told us to move the car — because the car we blocked wanted to leave. We went out to move it, and immediately another customer’s car was pushed into that same spot, blocking someone else again. The staff just gave a quick apology and said, “That car is also eating here.” Then they told us to go park somewhere else on the street.

It was chaotic, unprofessional, and showed complete disregard for customer experience — all just to squeeze in more cars for their own business.

Honestly, with food this mediocre and service this careless, I wouldn’t recommend this...

This 辣妹火鍋 at Gohtong Jaya located at the middle alley where you can access a wide parking space with few big restaurants. Parking is free and plenty.

The restaurant is spacious and full of tourist. The transparent canopy/glam thing outside is very atmospheric. The seats inside are very spacious and can easily sit a family with ease. Price is slightly more than average, but expected from China Style hotpot especially at Gohtong jaya.

Ordered only 2 split soup, as I find having a lot of flavors actually makes tasty food difficult. The tomato soup is a little too condensed and sweet, making it very artificial feel. The pork rib soup is good. I find the ingredients just so so. The waiters some are foreigners and clueless as they cannot communicate well, but most of them are helpful.

The restaurant also provides rooms for Karaoke if you plan for entertainment with family but not wanting to go up to Genting mountain top. They do offer 2 free beer the second time you come to dine at their franchise.

Overall, it's one of the hotpot choices in Gohtong Jaya as there are not many hotpots available. It's very relaxing when the weather turns cold at night and become windy, at the same time enjoy something hot at a...
