Went for lunch around 11.40am and had to wait in line due to the place was full house, understandable. We ordered food for 7 pax that amounted to almost RM 200. Which is fine since the place was viral. The place was boiling hot, no fan system whatsoever. I do get that CH is a cold place but a restaurant shouldn’t not have a fan to accommodate such large amount of people by that. It’s packed and stuffed. Wifi, false advertising on the table for the password. We had to ask a staff which is almost unavailable around peak time. Ordering food, QR code given but due to wifi was SLOW, it took us more than 30 minutes to place one. We had to use our own mobile data, Celcom, XOX and Maxis altogether but still took a lot of time. Server for the food ordering system through QR was ridiculous. Slow and not user friendly. Took us another 20-30 minutes to make payment online until we gave up and went to counter to just pay directly. What was the point of having that system then? Now, food. Nasi Lemak Sambal Strawberry Ayam Crunchy, Scones, 2pcs Chicken Set, Strawberry Lychee Soda was good. Nasi Lemak Ayam Gepuk Strawberry, Hokkaido Soft Serve icecream and Nasi Putih Daging Dendeng was mid. Worst was the drinks. Iced milk tea is mid, frankly said mamak is wayyy better. Strawberry ice blended and strawberry milk tea was disgusting. Ice blended tasted like powdered, full of artificial flavour. As for the strawberry milk tea, they skipped on the strawberry and gave us normal milk tea. It took them more than 40 minutes to make our drinks which I know it was ready beforehand due to the ice in our drinks are melted. MELTED. We had to go back to the counter to change our drinks. NOT EVEN A SORRY was given to us. They added the strawberry jam/puree and we had to place another request to add in the ice. Mind you the place was packed and boiling hot. Our drinks by that time was seriously diluted from previous ice and they just ignored it. One of the Nasi Lemak, picture attached, GOT EGGSHELLS IN IT. Not one tiny piece, TWO big pieces of shell. Wth? I lost my appetite and the entire experience was not worth for the money I spent. I will not recommend this place to all, they are not...
Read moreI heard this cafe famous with signature nasi lemak sambal strawberry so I decide to give a try during my short holiday at Cameron Highland. Here are some review from me.
Went ahead to unravel what's the hype about the Nasi Lemak controversy with strawberry sambal. The location of the cafe was just tucked away, hidden at the very corner of this dead end. So parking was just impossible, many potential customers were just turned away due to the lack of parking spots or they would have just parked far outside the junction. The cafe was just packed even after the peak lunch hours. And a QR code menu is just irritating since it is just a shared PDF file with 10 pages of heavy content on Google Drive that's gonna be so tough to load for customers with bad mobile coverage or no data. Wi-Fi was not working since the password can only be obtained after paying. Even connected, the connection wasn't working. The Nasi Lemak was just plain, lacking that distinctively M'sian taste of pine leaves and coconut milk. A dash of pink food color does not make it any more appetising, maybe to the hoard of children yes but the flavours of what should be constituted as Nasi Lemak is severe lacking. I have to say, strawberry does not go well with sambal. It just taste like a horrible mixture gone wrong. The citrus nature of strawberries is just does bode well with the sambal. It tasted like spicy jam at best. Their normal sambal was way better. Fired chicken was decent, although they got the cuts wrong. Charging 10 ringgit for a plate and there is no anchovies? Lastly the drinks there are so watered down. Disappointingly they can even serve decent beverages since they are a "café". At almost 5 ringgit, I could get a better tasting coffee at 1/4 of the price. Or is boiled water there just too expensive? Definitely not worth the hype, no matter how well the place is decorated, jeopardising the food and beverage is...
