Nestled in the bustling Gohtong Jaya area of Genting Highlands, Golden Orchid Thai Seafood promises an authentic Thai dining experience. Having recently dined here, I'm happy to report that it does deliver on its promise, offering a delicious and satisfying meal.
What We Loved:
A Taste of Thailand: The menu boasts a wide array of classic Thai dishes, from spicy curries like Green Curry and Panang Curry to stir-fries like Pad Thai and Basil Fried Rice. The flavors were authentic and well-balanced, showcasing the distinct Thai culinary expertise. Fresh Seafood: As the name suggests, the seafood here is a highlight. The prawns were plump and juicy, the fish was cooked to perfection, and the clams were tender and flavorful. The freshness of the ingredients really shone through. Generous Portions: The portions were generous, allowing for sharing and leaving no one hungry. This is especially appreciated when dining with a group. Friendly Service: The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. They were also happy to offer recommendations and answer any questions about the menu.
What Could Be Improved:
Ambiance: The restaurant itself could use a bit of a refresh. While the decor is clean and functional, it lacks the charm and atmosphere you might expect from a Thai restaurant. Limited Vegetarian Options: While there were a few vegetarian options available, the selection could be expanded for those seeking meat-free meals.
Overall:
Golden Orchid Thai Seafood is a solid choice for a satisfying Thai meal in Genting Highlands. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the service is friendly. While the ambiance could be improved, the overall experience is definitely worth recommending. For a quick and tasty Thai fix in Genting Highlands, this is a...
Read moreAuthentic Thai food in Genting gotong Jaya(halfway mountain), we ordered the pad ped catfish cooked in 2 different styles which are both unique and authentic as per my Thai friend who went with us too. The first style was fried crispy cat fish cooked and marinated in chili paste and herb, it's not spicy but flavourful and good to go with rice, do note there are some bones in the fishes. The second style was Cat fish with mango salad. The cat fish meat is being grinded till minced and fried till crispy like "bread crumbs", in fact I didn't know the crumbs was actually fish meat as I was still finding the meat of the fishes as there was only the head and tail. The grinded crumbs of meat is somewhat like a combination of "fish floss and fried tempura crumbs", it's very nice to bite and also to go with rice. However the mango salad was a little over sour. The complimentary keropok was also a good starter, it was nice till we ordered a extra plate of keropok which cost 4rm. The taro ball with coconut milk is quite normal however my Thai friend still love it as it's a warm dessert and nice to eat with the cold weather.(They will also give you a small bowl of ice to mix yourself for those who like it cold) Spring roll is handmade which is good and taste nicer as usually for restaurants it's just frozen packets. Will definitely return for more dishes then next time when we...
Read moreFirst time trying this place because craving for Thai food. This place is Halal and no alcohol/pork is served here. They have many varieties of Thai food dishes whether it's separate dishes eating with white rice or ala carte fried rice type.
We ordered tom yam seafood, fried fish tiga rasa, kailan ikan masin and omelette. All of it are tasty and delicious. Especially the fish. It's freshly cooked and has good sauce taste. Tom yam soup was also good taste as well.
You can see the latest pictures of the menu that I've taken if want to know what food they have. The place is not that crowded. Should be able to come by at any given time. The only difficult part is finding parking nearby because it's constantly full of cars parked because of other famous Chinese restaurants that people go to eat their lunch as well.
Definitely recommended for people who wants to eat Thai food and it's Halal for Muslims who wants to...
