Dinner at Tai Wang - led ourselves to dig in to 菜园鸡 and lovely 芽菜. I probably enjoyed the meal more than my friends! The chicken was sweet close to the bone and packed so much flavours. Taugey in Ipoh - lends so much more crunch and mouth feel - it was very satisfying!
We had our chicken meal with kuey teow soup and also tried their handmade fish balls. Great accompaniments to the chicken.
Lady owner was nice to chat with us and offered me some complimentary chicken rice to try - I love how generous and open hearted some of them are. The rice was delish.
Our whole meal - half a chicken, fish balls, 6 drinks, and 4 bowls of kuey teow was only SGD25.
Apparently there are many great chicken rice places around in Ipoh, so only if you happen to be in this area, then pop by Tai Wang!

Decided to try something new as my go to for kuey teow soup has been another restaurant in Bercham…and I’m so glad I did. The chicken is really good with the delicious soya sauce and oil mix. Plus they not only have the standard chicken soup but also their signature prawn broth which is really tasty. The beansprouts and meatballs were average and I would not bother with those the next time. They are definitely pricier than other similar restaurants but just order the steamed chicken and the kuey teow in their signature soup....
