Akamomiji Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Perak

Chanced upon this cosy and authentic Japanese restaurant during my trip to ipoh with my family. Went there during weekday, and carpark lot was fairly easy to find.

The kyuri maki (if I din type wrongly) with cucumber like wrapped around was my favourite! It was refreshing, crunchy and light. I could eat the whole plate myself- it's a MUST ORDER! The sashimi is very fresh, and I like the hand roll too. I also ordered the grilled squid and the mentaiko prawn, which are their best seller, too, in which i saw the other tables had that as well.

The staff and boss were a friendly lot and what I appreciated most was asking for my dining experience and feedback on the food after the meal. They had been around in the area for some years from my chat with them and were still humble to get feedbacks from customers. Kudos! The staff were nice and professional, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

I like how savoury the dishes were without being overbearing in flavour. Nothing was too salty either which is good because most regular places that serve Japanese cuisine tended to serve their food a little too salty for my taste. The portion was just nice, in that it was neither so large that one could not finish it or too small that it left one unsatisfied.

I liked the layout of the restaurant overall, it felt pleasantly soothing. The music could be a little happier though rather than soft and somber in my opinion. 😂

The price may be on the pricier side for most but considering the quality of the meal, this place is not a bad choice to consider especially for...

So we went there for dinner at 6:50pm; there were not many customers. We ordered four things: a garlic chicken bento, a salmon skin salad, one salmon fish head and one tofu. We waited half an hour just to be served with our tofu only! What the hell is this?! Also, we had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes for the fish head and it tasted so flat. After one hour worth of wait time, we got our salad, utterly ridiculous wait time for such simple food and the worst thing: the salmon skin is not crispy anymore and the dressing was merely sauce mixed with saltwater. My mother, who ordered the salad, simply requested to change the salad and guess what, another pointless 15 minute wait time! We ended up taking away the salad and left.
