If you want to enjoy a plate of delicious chicken rice and you're in the vicinity, this place is worth considering, despite it not being the best chicken rice shop I've ever visited.

I paid no more than RM7 for a lunch set. Their chicken rice is not too dry and their sauce really has flavour to it that goes well with their chicken. That makes this place one of the cheapest and most valuable place in town to fill your tummy with chicken rice.

This shop opens only in the afternoon and parking can be an issue during lunch hours. Therefore, plan in advance to avoid frustration. I tend to come here before 12pm.

Ipoh has plenty of chicken rice stalls but so far, this is my go-to place for having a quick and simple lunch. Before I forget, they don't just serve chicken rice. They have other options. Feel free to drop by and have a look at their menu. If you're feeling hungry upon looking at their offerings, I won't...

Against normal custom, we come here for the wanton noodles, which are lovingly and carefully made by a gentle uncle. He cannot be rushed as you should not rush perfection. Incidentally also one of the cheaper wanton noodles around. Oh and regardless of how slow you think the wanton noodles are, the drinks could be even slower 😆 so please exercise patience when you are here, be ready to chill and relax while waiting for your food. I personally like the wanton noodles here - as the wantons are beautifully molded and tasty and the noodles have that very hard-to-find wanton noodles texture (missing in Ipoh or anywhere in recent years) and without the tannin aftertaste. People usually come here for the other stall, which sells...

I’ve been here a few times since Old Katong group took over the previous chicken rice vendor. Before I say anything about the taste, I wanna point out that I am still amazed by the portion of meat served and all this for RM8.50. I’ve had chicken rice elsewhere and some charge more yet their portion makes my heart and stomach cry…

Anyway, the braised chicken was a bit too tender for my liking. I like it a little bit firmer. Still good and satisfies my chicken rice craving today. Their chilli sauce is just right and flavourful. Not too spicy.

Yat Yat Seng’s kopi c kosong ice is good. The coffee isn’t...

I absolutely love the coffee here. It's as good, if not better, than even the famous ones in old town. The food is good too. I especially enjoy the curry mee (soup version) - the dry version is sort of meh to me. Most of their customers seem to prefer the soup version too, from a casual survey on what people were eating. The siew yuk is also really yum - some people will order an extra portion of it. The kai see hor fun is my personal favourite in the whole of Ipoh but this is highly individual preference. Business has really picked up in recent times so lunch time can get quite busy.
