We brought the Goh family (no, not the Medici family of Florence of Renaissance Italy!) to Fellini for Boxing Day lunch and everyone was completely Sated & Satisfied (my 2 ‘S’) at the end of the meal, harbouring no post-prandial regrets at all! Unlike some other restaurants in the Klang Valley which sell food that passes off as Italian but is actually ersatz, this is the real Mc Coy! The antipasto platters of salami and other cured meats plus herbs, cheeses etc.drizzled with olive oil were enjoyable. These were complemented by platters of slices of crusty bread and toppings of pate di funghi. Sublime! Then came plates of mixed seafood spaghetti and two more with sauce carbonara. But to meat lovers like us, the piece de resistance were definitely the roasted lamb shanks that followed the pasta dishes! Tender pieces of meat that literally detached themselves from the bone with little effort. Needless to say, no sooner the phrase “buon appetito” were uttered than within minutes, the shanks disappeared quickly into our alimentary tracts to placate our porcine appetites! Rounding up the meals, maestro chef & owner, Tony — who hails from Rome and who specially curated the meal for us — indulged us with his ambrosial home made Gelato, Tiramisu and ice cream! It would be superfluous to say that our Boxing Day lunch at Fellini today was a memorable gastronomic experience that composer-cum-gastronome, Rossini himself, would have given thumbs up! My only cavil here is that I wish they would use Aceto Basalmico of Modena for the dips and also the absence in the menu of Cianghiale alla Cacciatora (and has to be only the wild boar of Tuscany, fed with the chestnuts found there!). But that would have added extra cost to the meal, which on the whole was reasonable, to state the least. And after such a good meal like this, one comes to the conclusion that few can repudiate the assertion of the denizens of Italy when they claim that only they know what “the sweet life” is all about, the phrase as encapsulated in the title of a film of one of Italy’s famous directors, Federico Fellini (who also happens to be Tony’s favourite one, hence the name of his restaurant in Petaling Jaya):...
Read moreWell, italian restaurant with 4.5 star review by so many in the google is something amazed us. Walk in and entering the restaurant full of hope and expectation. I think because of this, the more hopeful and high expectations you have.. disappointment is greater.
Its around 3pm that time when we order, so we just ordered the Bruschetta, 2 pieces with tomatoes and 2 pieces with mushroom topping. The Bruschetta bread used is something new, we have never tried before, the bread side is little crunchy yeah thats right.. But it was too soft to hold the toppings. A good bruschetta usually used baguette which is good enough to hold the toppings. I think chef in such an authentic italian restaurants shouldn't have make such mistake.. Here come the disaster we ordered the pork belly with pesto and mustard sauce. Well, this sound excited but turned out this main is overly cooked. The supposedly crispy skin cant even be cut with knife and the meat is older tougher than my great grandma.. I really do considered that Pesto is Italian culture but never in my food journey tasted such a bland and dried pesto paste. Although alot of pine nuts which is commendable in pesto paste.. Still the pesto paste is a total let down. We asked the server about this, then he suggested to change the dish for us. So i have choosen the lamb shank. Ok lamb shank is ok this time.. Soft and tender. Hmm.. The tomatoes base sauce is lacked of spices and herbs make it so common. I think those from common steakhouse like k@kicorner in Cheras have better taste than this. I totally suggesting to those looking towards good ambience a romantic dinner, this is the place. Ambience is 5 star for me no doubt. Will i come back again.. My answer is NO sorry to say even Veronia Trattoria which is nearby is...

This restaurant won't give you those atas and elegant feeling, in fact you'd feel like entering a regular mom-and-pop Italian restaurant where everyone was chatting happily, celebrating special occasions while tucking into the food and drinks.
That was how I felt when I came to Fellini's for the very first time, after someone recommended this place to me (I couldn't remember who, but thank you). I never noticed this restaurant despite having meal at 123 Gasing, Kanna Curry House and 1977 New Ipoh Chicken on the same stretch of shophouses.
◾Calabrese platter - imported direct from Italy, the platter comprised of various cold cuts, cheese, pickles and crackers. What a way to start the dinner ◾ Minestrone soup cooked using Italian beans & assorted vegetables in a hearty tomato herb broth. ◾The Hawaiian Pizza trumped the Margherita this round as the princess got what she wanted.. lovely crust and generous ingredients. ◾Mushroom risotto - another tummy warming hearty dish that wowed me. Texture was Al dente with flavourful broth. ◾Stinco di Agnello - lamb shank slow-cooked with whole peeled tomato served with mashed potato and vegetable. ◾Feeling good, we ordered the Panna Cotta and Tiramisu to end our evening with a sweet note.
The night was made special with a saxophone performance and a bottle of Super Tuscan - a befitting wine for such a good Italian restaurant. It has been made into my permanent list of Italian...
