Disappointing Valentine’s Dinner Experience
As a seasoned food enthusiast, I carefully selected this restaurant to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my wife, but it turned out to be a major disappointment.
First and foremost, the highly anticipated Tiramisu was already sold out when we arrived at 7 AM sharp for the first seating. If it’s such a popular item, especially on a special occasion like this, why not prepare more?
Seafood Risotto The food was served surprisingly fast, but it was already lukewarm, giving the impression that it had been pre-prepared and served in a fast-food manner. A risotto that isn’t hot enough can be quite unpleasant to eat. It was overly wet, the prawns weren’t fresh, and the mussels were overcooked. Overall, it was not enjoyable.
Mussels in White Wine Sauce Similar to the risotto, this dish was also not served hot. The mussels were overcooked, and the sauce lacked flavor. The only redeeming factor was that the bread was quite decent.
Egg & Nest This dish felt more like a salad and was served cold, lacking any distinct flavor.
Journey of Senses (RM46) A so-called “signature” drink that was a huge letdown. The burning effect barely worked, and the drink itself had an unappealing taste. I forced myself to drink half of it before giving up.
While the food and drinks were disappointing, I must commend the staff for their exceptional service. They were polite, friendly, and professional. When we were told that the Tiramisu was sold out, we were understandably frustrated, as we had specifically requested it multiple times during the reservation process. We even offered to prepay to secure one, but the restaurant insisted it was “first come, first served.” Since the staff handled the situation well and apologized sincerely, we decided to let it go.
The restaurant’s ambiance, music, and overall atmosphere were fantastic—comfortable, romantic, and well-curated.
Given the premium pricing, I strongly urge the restaurant to focus on food quality and consistency. While the service and atmosphere are commendable, the food needs significant improvement to match the...
Read moreWent there for brunch with friends. We had a reservation so no wait. Parking was easy when I went at 11.15am. No parking at 2.30 pm. Park underground (when you turn in, go straight, dont u-turn into the place because you'd miss the parking and have to go another round). The valet is EXPENSIVE.
They have double floors for seating but i would still recommend placing a booking. There was a line even at 2.30pm when i left.
First of all, really love their mushroom soup. The food was alright though a bit pricey but its western, and you're paying for the presentation as well as for the quality. If you really like mushrooms, the bird nest (i think that's what its called? Its the one with the egg standing on it) is like a soft boiled egg on top of crispy noodles placed on a LOT of mushrooms cooked in cream; do with that what you will.
They have something unique that I have never seen before in another place called French Galettes. If I had to describe it, its like a flattened thosai with different toppings. Not a fan personally but its unique and something different from the usual western food places.
Service left a bit to be desired. We were placed at a corner table and they didnt turn on all the lights above our table until we were almost 2 hours into our brunch (thought the lighting was a bit dim but didnt think much about it until they turned on the lightsand suddenly we could take much better pictures of our food). The servers were also standing across from the room and it was hard to get their attention. We gave up and just walked to them to place additional orders. I ordered apple juice and they got me orange juice instead (to be fair, we were a large table so I understand getting orders wrong). The extra bowl i requested to share my mushroom soup was dirty.... and my friends truffle and chicken egg mayo was the LAST to arrive and it took almost an hour for his meal to arrive. So...
Read moreAlthough I was hoping better from this establishment, I was thoroughly disappointed in their service and cleanliness.
When we arrived, there was a sign that says to wait to be seated. However, even after pressing the call button provided, none of their staff came to seat us. Besides that, another group of people barged straight in and managed to get seated instantly. What's the point of having such a system if your staff won't enforce it anyway?
But once the staff did notice us and came out to seat us, we were informed by the staff that the wait time would be between 20 minutes to 1 hour. You do realise that that is quite a gap, right? Most people won't mind waiting 20 minutes but once you mention 1 hour, do you really think people would want to wait and dine at your establishment? Saying that you have to wait 1 hour is the equivalent to shooing your potential customers away. Not to mention, we saw a few tables wrapping up their meals anyway. Regardless, we managed to get seated within 15 minutes, unlike what the staff suggested.
Moving on to the food, everything was fine until we noticed their bottle of maple syrup was crawling with ants. It wasn't just crawling with ants, there were dozens of dead ants within the bottle, which none of their staff members noticed until we pointed it out. It was disgusting.
When we informed the staff, the staff looked at us and didn't say a word. Not even an apology. In fact, I had to prompt the staff and ask them so what do we do about this now.
The staff left without a word and went to find the manager at the time, who was quite nice and apologetic and didn't charge us for one of the dishes we ordered, but that's the only positive.
Disappointing service, disgusting environment, overpriced and mediocre food, although unique to...
