I had a unpleasant experience at the place today. This is the first n my last visit. Actually we always came to the steamboat restaurant opposite for dinner most times but was curious to try out the dishes so called authentic cooking style at this place. First time we came over, we were rejected entry as it was over packed and the staff was telling us waiting time will be more than an hour. Thus we went to try another place.
This is my second attempt to try and we went early thus we managed to get seatings. However the pricing is quite steep thus we din try the little lobsters. After ordering, the first two dishes (sour & spicy shredded potatoes and mapo tofu) came fast. However after being served the next dish which is fried rice, our another two dishes (steamed scallop vermicelli and braised pork preserved vegetables) never came and the waiters kept coming over to our table to check whether had we finished our food.
Subsequently we even overheard one lady staff (seems to be the lady boss) telling waiting customers that we are almost done in 10 mins. She was shocked that we are still waiting for the two dishes when she came over to our table. (I think she plan to ask us to expedite our eating) After much hassle, the last dish (braised pork preserved vegetables) finally came and I was disappointed by my first mouth. The meat is overly dry and the preserved vegetables totally had no sauce. It seems to me that the dish was reheated before serving.
Before we finished the food, the same lady staff came over to check whether how long more we need to finish our dinner. She apologetic saying that she had actually informed the outside waiting customer we will finish in 10 mins beforehand.
We finally went over to pay at the counter and was shocked to see that we are being charged for 4 bowls of rice instead of 2. We informed the cashier man whom seems not to understand us (or pretending) and so we got to raise our tone repeating 2nd time again. This time the waitress beside him heard us and faster do the necessary revert of the bill.
Overall was disappointing and the meal was not to our satisfaction. I also does not like being 'chased' to finish my meal as I like to sip my tea slowly after meal as an enjoyment. This is not able to be fulfil today at this place. Not...
Read moreVery authentic mainland Chinese cuisine. Ordered the steamed fish, spicy but not too spicy, the spices add a lot of flavor to the siakap. The stir fried chicken was very delicious, unique in flavour (quite different from the ones you get from restaurant serving Cantonese cuisine). Tomato egg has a very fragrant egg taste and the tomato really enhanced it. They were running a promo where if you ordered 2 dishes, you can get a stir fried cabbage for RM1. I thought they would stinge on the ingredients but no, it was a full plate, with sliver of pork, very delicious. For dessert, we got the fried milk roll, this was something I was not a fan off, it's like bread roll stuffed with some milky custard. Very rich and greasy.
Overall, it was a very pleasant dining experience. Service was good, quick and staff/boss were very friendly and did not push for us to order the expensive stuff.
Definitely...
Read moreThe shop sells Hunan cuisine, from my previous experience, spicy food is expected but what I've got, blown me out of water.
The food is simply sensational. It has every taste you expect from chinese cuisine, plus the extra bit of flair to make it different. It's tingling and tantalizing to your tongue. Large portion and simply not going to let you leave unsatisfying.
Soul fish is great, the soup is simply superb. The owner said most soup-base fish bowl can be upgraded into steamboat after finishing the fish. It's off the menu and depending on the availability, do ask for it if you have soup left. Man, I wish I have more space for it.
Had a glance on new menu too, it rolled out recently and would definitely tried it again. The ambient private room...
