Quality control is an issue with franchised food place and Little Penang Cafe at Atria Shopping Mall is yet another example of more attention is needed for their QC.
The reputation precedes itself and I was in full anticipation to have a good Penang meal.
The cravings for a plate of hot Nasi Lemak with chicken rendang quickly fizzled when I was told by the waiter that they only have white rice left and no more coconut milk rice.... he even cheekily said it would be almost the same, which beckons the thought is the nasi lemak actually tasteless..??
Never one to give up, plan b was to have a hearty nowl of Assam Laksa. The portions were good and the amount of fish swimming within was very generous, making it look more like stew rather than broth... but the joy was short lived. The fish was stale and had an oily coat of old fish taste...
Plan C, Cendol!!! Surely one cant mess this up right? Wrong...
The cendol was pre-made and frozen to sustain a longer shelf life.... as a result the green cendol jelly has hardened after prolonged freezing. No bouncy jelly texture, only one that breaks into pieces as the heat of your mouth thaws the frozen jelly.... even the gula melaka can’t save it....
My verdict: Quality control - Strong D (borderline Fail) Taste - C minus Service - B plus
Would i go back or recommend people to Little Penang Cafe @ Atria for Penang food?

Hope LPC will buck up on their...

The restaurant itself was quite crowded, about 80% full when we sat down at 1:45pm. We even asked the neighbouring table how their Char Kuey Teow was (the famous Penang fried rice noodles) and they liked it despite the 'default' level of spiciness. Wouldn't mind returning to try this and other dishes. Service was...
Read moreLittle Penang Kafe started with a promise of bringing Penang's favourite dishes to the Klang Valley.
It has become a success, offering real honest-to-goodness Penang treats that tasted really true to its origins.
Stylistically furnished the same as the other restaurants, the offerings here are just as good as the other branches as well - kudos to the owners for being able to maintain the food quality throughout.
The restaurants are pork-free and as a Penangite myself, I can vouch for the taste of the food here to be authentic, and good.
My favourite curry mee and mee jawa are my two targets whenever I dine here, along with their ice-kachang - which, honestly, is just as good as having a bowl of it over at Swatow Lane in Penang.
It's a great place to satisfy my craving for some good...
