We booked in advance the Karaoke Room K1, during CNY. Had to pay RM300 deposit, which seemed reasonable for the crowd and peak period. The room is very well maintained and very comfortable for 15 people with the table being big enough, probably can hold more. Very convenient that they had some extra side tables and chairs for us to put handbags and gift bags.
The Karaoke was very fun! Easy to use touch screen, with two microphones provided. The volume controls were easy to work out, with a pretty user friendly interface. I was actually impressed that no matter where the person was singing in the room, we didn't get any audio feedback! ALOT of Chinese songs, including the latest songs! English songs, not as many, and a bit harder to find, but the oldies are there. I couldn't find Vanilla Ice, so English-speaking Gen-X might be a bit disappointed. LOL
The restaurant was full that evening, so we have to be a bit patient when pressing the button requesting service. Also there was one waiter we had some difficulty communicating with when ordering drinks, wasn't sure to speak Malay or English or Chinese to him. And I think all the staff were overworked that period, so sometimes they also got a bit 'snappy'. But 80% of the time the service was good and friendly that night, and the lady did a good Yee Sang presentation for us. They also didn't rush us to leave the room even when our booked time had ended.
The Food we had was good to very good. Their Singapore Mee Hoon was very good, salted egg squid was very good, their belacan kangkung was very tasty, their claypot wine braised chicken was really very good, the kamheong lala was good, their TauFoo was really soft, and their steamed fresh fish was also very good. The price I would say is on the high side, but the quality is about there for the price, and given that they don't charge extra for room and they don't charge extra for the karaoke for the two hours, I would say it's a good deal.
Overall, most of the family was happy with our experience that night, and will be going again for another...

Update Recently in March 2024 notice the restaurant has expanded with many new staff. Ordered via phone some take away Had 1 bad experience. Had messaged & followed up by phone call to check if order was ready as early text message was not acknowledged. A boy who answered confirmed it was when I mentioned my name & order. But it was actually not as I found out the person answering phone did not understand English. What upset me most was a lady in black whom I did not speak with argued that I only call to ask if they sell prawns. I did not even speak on phone to her. I told her clearly that I had called to check if my order was taken n I told I was on the way to collect it & I received a positive answer. So you may be unlucky if attended by incompetent staff there. Later a supervisor explained that he was in the toilet when I called so I was attended by young...
Read moreHad dinner recently at a ”reincarnation” of an old restaurant. “New Peng Wah” was on SS22/19 of the Atria area in Damansara Jaya (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia). After quite a number of years there, it has relocated to SS22/23, 2 roads down from its old location. It is now called Restaurant Kampung Seafood Parit Jawa. Don’t ask me why the renaming. 😊
So how’s the food now? I must say my friends and I enjoyed our meal.
Butter Crabs - this was a little unusual. Tasty but instead of a buttery creamy taste, I actually got a big hit of peanut butter flavour. Not sure if it’s my imagination or it’s a twist on the old recipe by the chef. Crab was fresh and tasty.
Fried man tou. Good, crisp but not too oily.
“Yau Chum Ma Yau Yee” (Deep Fried Threadfin Fish) - Excellent. The secret of course is the very hot oil needed so that the fish is crispy on the outside, fully cooked, yet fully and not hard on the inside. The soy sauce mix was also delicious.
The soupy clams (lala) and green veg were OK. The soup base for the clams had good flavour. Both were good if not spectacular.
Definitely a place to return and try other dishes. Given 4 stars only because I’ve managed to try very few dishes. Will return for more and will likely upgrade to 5 stars once I have a taste of a wider...
