RESTORAN PROSPERITY BOWL CHICKEN RICE
Restoran Prosperity Bowl Chicken Rice is a great place to enjoy a variety of Ipoh-style dishes, such as chicken hor fun soup and also Penang white laksa, kolo mixed noodles, and pork char siew. The restaurant has a spacious and clean dining area, as well as a comfortable and cooling waiting area at the front with a wooden bench, ceiling fans, and a mini-garden. The service is attentive and courteous, and the food is served quickly and freshly.
I have visited this restaurant several times with my wife, and we always had a satisfying and relaxing meal. We usually come here for breakfast, and we like to share different dishes and drinks. Some of our favourites are the Kampung chicken hor fun soup, which has a rich and flavourful broth, tender chicken, and smooth noodles; the Penang white laksa, which is a creamy and spicy coconut-based soup with fish, prawns, and noodles; the kolo mixed noodles, which are dry noodles tossed with a savoury sauce and topped with fish and pork balls; and the pork char siew, which is a plate of succulent and caramelised roasted pork with a generous portion of sliced cucumber. We also like to order braised chicken feet with Chinese mushrooms, which are soft and gelatinous, and the energising Milo kosong, which is a chocolate malt drink without sugar. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable for the quality and freshness of the food.
We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Ipoh-style cuisine, or who wants to try something different and delicious. The restaurant is open daily, and streets parking is easily available. We will come back here again...
Read moreMy kiddo wanted char siew rice and this place popped up on Google. Overall rating looked ok so in I went!
Lady boss was watching some kind of drama series. Appeared reluctant to take my order. TBH it confused me as to why I, the customer, was made to feel apologetic 🤔
On the menu, the price for charsiew rice is RM16. If you order on Grab & do a self pickup, after deducting Grab offer, total comes to RM17.
In Klang Valley the average price for a plate of Charsiew rice is around RM9. You generally don’t get a lot of meat with it but you would get at least soup. So, for RM16 there has to be some justification for what I am paying right? esp since this is not a posh chain or a restaurant inside of a hotel.
Verdict?
1 star for their service. I’ve a simple policy for places I dine at: Customers should never be made to feel like they owe the establishment. Simple courtesy is not much to ask.
4 stars for the food. Gotta give it to them. The Charsiew was on the fattier side but was charred nicely. Tasted really good & it was an ok size portion. Although my kiddo found the rice too gingery, I liked it.
2 stars for the price. While the food tasted good, I didn’t think the portion, service and value matched the price.
Would we return? TBH probably not. I’d rather support owners who are friendly and appreciative than someone who acts all entitled.
P/s - It was an odd/ after lunch hour. From outside I saw people at different tables so I thought it was a good sign. They turned out to be their own...
Read moreA popular Chicken Rice/Noodle shop in the heart of PJ. They offer rice & noodle with complementing set of dishes that best goes together such as their Signature White Chicken, BBQ Pork, Meat Balls & Bean Sprouts. They also a few more dish that can go well with these and to match the taste buds of others in your group as usually couples and groups come here for lunch. Price here is slightly on the high side compared to the usual Chicken Rice, reason being is because they use quality ingredients such as their Chicken as they use Choy Yin Kai (AKA Farm/Kampung/Organic Chicken) and their soup is tasty & not watered down soup where most stalls serves that taste more like water. One thing to note is that this type of chicken is more lean hence the amount of meat is also slightly less than the normal plump up chicken hence you may need to order extra if not enough. Their chili is spicy plus a little sour (probably from the lime) & the best part has less chili seed that is good for health; it taste good and is a perfect match to the chicken rice. You can see they put their effort into all of this and also trying to provide the best service hence this justifies the higher price. Although with Fan & air-con, the shop has the side and front area open and it can get slightly hot where U might just sweat a little. the Parking is...
