Got to visit this family-owned Teochew restaurant the other day and we were stuffed from their bestsellers! 🤩 having operated for 20+ years and showcasing the family's culinary traditions, it's a reputable eatery that's always full house whenever we passed by. The queues might have put us off but their service was incredibly fast!
Ordered: Garoupa Fish Fillet Mee Sua Tow ⭐️ (RM17.80 per portion) A must-order dish especially for mee sua fans!! 🍜 Texture had a starchy consistency, similar to sharks fin soup which made it so filling, despite being fit for 2 people. You can also get the seafood option - they were pretty generous with the ingredients!
Fried Lye Fun ⭐️ (RM13.80 per portion) Good amount of wok hey there! Such an affordable dish even with addition of abalone and prawns 😋
Boiled Baby Octopus 🐙 (RM30) Cravings satisfied for this! The octopus was really fresh and not chewy. Easily my fav dish of the night - price may be at the steep side but it's definitely something worth getting 🌟
Seafood Roll ⭐️ (RM15 - small) Reminds us of loh bak but a better version! 🦀
Oyster Omelette 🦪 (RM15 - small) Savoury, flavourful, and crispy goodness in one plate! The sweet chilli sauce and cilantro enhanced the dish, plus the ratio between the omelette and oysters was balanced, but it is a little oily for us.
Chrysanthemum Drink 🌼 (RM2.50) Not too sweet, just like how Asians enjoy it! Good thing that it's house-made too 🍵
Cucumber & Sour Plum Juice 🥒 (RM6) Taste itself definitely isn't for everyone - sounds bizarre right? Combining the unique flavours of cooling cucumber and tangy sour plums with minimal sweetness, overall taste is not that bad but honestly not my cup of tea 😅
Teow Chew Yam Paste with Gingko 🍠 (RM6) The only dessert in the menu and of course we got that! Both yam texture and aroma were prominent; despite the thickness of the dessert, it...
Read moreThis tiny restaurant has been around for ages and still serve the same food. The food menu or selection is very limited but every item is worth trying. The prices are reasonable considering the amount of seafood they put into each dish. The mee suah is very unique and love it. We tried the fried lai fun and that is the favourite among all the patrons. Though a bit too oily for me but the taste is very good especially if taken with the very nice sambal. The prawns and scallops in it are generous and very fresh. This item is a must try if you visit this restaurant. We also tried the fried rice. I enjoyed it very much though the rice was a wee bit too soft for me as I prefer my fried rice more dry. Again ample amount of scallops and prawns in it. Ingredients were fresh and taste very good. Tried the minced prawn fried egg. Very unusual but taste good. I like it. I don't find that the dishes are loaded with MSG as some reviews stated because I don't get the thirsty feeling after eating here. I will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu. Ooo, nothing much to the ambience. Very practical and fuss free restaurant, the service is prompt, efficient and friendly. Prices are reasonable. The parking may be a problem during peak...
Read moreOpens at 5.30pm, reached here around 6pm but already crowded with people. Queue management is rather quick.
For condiments, they do provide 3 types of chilies and my favourite one is the bright red color which labeled as super spicy xD
For drink, lime + sour plum juice (rm6) is quite refreshing, balanced flavor without being too sweet.
For food, fried lye fun (rm13.80), noodles is chewy, seafood like prawns and scallop are fresh, portion wise can be slightly improved and abit oily as well.
Seafood mee sua tow (rm14.50), very warm and hearty bowl of noodles. By eating its original taste is so plain yet fulfiling, adding vinegar definitely further enhance its flavor profile. It contains seafood like fish slices, scallop, fishball and prawns.
Octopus (rm30), very fresh, soft and tender! Simplicity at its best where the main ingredient speaks for itself ;)
Teow Chew Yam paste (rm6), very small portion yet feels compact. Thick consistensy of yam paste with ginkgo nuts, taste very fragrant (seems to be infused with pork oil) and the sweetness is just right. They do accept card payments and duitnow QR too ;)
Recommended for sure for decent teow...
