Secret Recipe Jaya 33 — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

I read the reviews and I thought it cant be that bad. Its beyond belief. Every bad review written here is a simple plain vanilla truth.

Atrocious service. Was served a bad beef noodle (it was a chef recommendation in the menu). The smell on the soup and beef was so foul, I return it and told the nice lady waiter (there’s one that is polite) not to bother to change and no need to refund as I am not in the mood to argue or plead my case.

Then came our hero, there was no name, black shirt with trainee tag. I can only assume he came because he is part of management trainee rather than a junior trainee. Remember, I didn’t request to see anyone. He then didn’t say sorry and proceed to ask if I have eaten beef noodle in my life! This persisted for a while even though I told him to go away as his line of questioning is becoming insulting and insinuating. Clearly, not taught on basic customer service. Went back to the counter and I could overhear him saying to his colleague that I have never eaten beef noodles before! So I went from a disappointed customer with foul beef noodle to an infuriated customer who then settle the bill immediately and leave.

This place really have no hope if that is what the management trainee has been taught to speak...

I had Spore Laksa for lunch. The taste was very good. Portion size was good. Temperature was hot as I like it. Ingredients used were fresh. Good size shrimp and the gravy was thick and tasty. Can smell the fresh basil (I think) or one of those fresh fragrant herbs. Love it!!!! However, towards the end of the meal I can taste sand texture in the gravy. Due to the weight it sank to the bottom. Yes, it was that good I ate most of the gravy until the bottom of the bowl. It could be from the dried shrimp or even perhaps the shrimp paste used as one of the ingredients. I think the central kitchen need to reevaluate the supplier of those ingredients to ensure that their supplies are of good quality and to conduct quality control of the ingredients. Mixing those products with seashells are rampant among irresponsible producers.... Tight quality control needed in such a case. Connection was poor around the area hence ordering online was impossible. The staff were kind enough (A male Malay supervisor and a female Chinese wait staff) to provide me with the physical menu and took the order.
