17/6/2024 #说走就走 (431) Visit Perak Year 2024 霹雳旅游年
It was evening when we arrived in Sekinchan, we already planned to have a seafood dinner.
Seafood is abundant here, and fish and shrimp are all fresh and shipped to many places in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
Boon Kee Restaurant was chosen for our seafood dinner.
Of course, we couldn’t order too many dishes for only 3 people like us. so we just had to try a few. Before my wife arrived, she mentioned that to try the mantis shrimp from another restaurant we had last year. This time, the restaurant introduced us to deep-fry medium-sized mantis shrimp (i.e. mantis shrimp) with oatmeal. The oatmeal was quickly fried and then scooped up and sprinkled on the fried mantis shrimp. Mantis shrimp is rich in nutrition, its meat is soft and easy to digest, and it is rich in magnesium. Magnesium has an important regulatory effect on heart activity and can protect the cardiovascular system well. It can reduce the cholesterol content in the blood and prevent arteriosclerosis. (Taken from the Encyclopedia of Home Life). The meat is QQ and elastic, and the shell is thin and easy to separate. White clams (la la), steamed with shredded ginger and garlic (Figure 5), white clams have many uses. The meat of white clams is salty and cold in nature. In the Chinese medicine classics, it has the effects of nourishing yin, promoting diuresis, and resolving phlegm. Even the clams ground into powder have the effects of clearing heat, promoting dampness, and resolving phlegm. A little shredded ginger removes the fishy smell, and a little chili membrane is added, but its slight spiciness does not irritate the tip of the tongue. The garlic aroma and the seasoning of the store make the steamed white clams fresh and fragrant, so it is so delicious. For a balanced diet, have a plate of stir-fried vegetables. The stir-frying method of high heat and quick fighting makes the vegetables. The store introduced a Teochew steamed manta ray. Oh! It was the first time I heard of it. We usually grilled it, fried it with chili, or boiled it in Teochew style with some pickles in the market. We tried it with curiosity! Indeed, the fish meat is tender and smooth, and the fish meat can still be presented. The store accompanies it with water tofu, mushrooms, ginger, and tomatoes🍅. It is really good. It is indeed Teochew steamed, but the price is much different from white pomfret. Worth eating.
We ended this 3-day and 2-night Perak trip with a seafood dinner in Sekinchan and in our own way. #saygogo #saygogo #tourismperak #visitperak2024 #sekinchan #seafood...
Read moreWhile I understand that every place has its unique style, I must admit that the experience left me feeling a bit disappointed.
We were highly recommended by the local people to dine here. The meal we had seemed like any Chinese food we could have easily enjoyed elsewhere in Malaysia, with nothing particularly special to distinguish it. We found the dish quite salty for our taste, and the fish portion appeared a lot smaller compared to the weight of fish informed by the attendant.
As someone who frequently shops at the wet market and prepares meals at home, I was surprised by the explanation we received when we questioned the weight of fish. We were told that they for sure have to add extra 0.2g to its original weight, to compensate for ingredients like ginger, tofu, and mushrooms. Worst explanation ever - especially considering the market price of a red snapper typically costs around RM 50 per kilo and the restaurant charged RM 85 per kilo which is common and understood it has included cooking costs.
Updated comment: EXCUSE ME, to the horrible rude reply by owner who cannot accept feedback - The salty dishes is the vegs. In fact the salted egg prawn is coated with tones of sugar sweet. I DIDNT complain the price per kilo but the weight doesn't reflect the actual weight. You or your staff shamelessly revealed that i was charged 0.2g extra than the actual weight because you need to charge us ginger, tofu and salty veg! Does it make sense??? When you have already mark...
Read moreA popular seafood restaurant in Sekinchan near busy road of fisheries. The restaurant was quite packed when we went on a Sunday lunchtime. Order taking was prompt and drinks were delivered quickly. Food took almost 45 mins to be served but this could probably be due to the crowd. The service staff gv jelly and candy to kids so they don't get too restless waiting for food. Service delivery and attentiveness of the staff despite a packed restaurant was very commendable. A lot of times popular restaurants tend to disregard waiting customers so this was a big plus point here. The fish in assam sauce was excellent, fresh fish and delicious sauce. The vege was a tad salty. Mantis prawn in butter sauce and sizzling tofu were average. Price was very reasonable for the portion sizes. This restaurant is definitely a must visit if you don't mind slightly longer waiting time when...
