As an ardent aficionado of Thai cuisine, I enthusiastically orchestrated a family outing to relish the delights of a highly recommended restaurant. Filled with anticipation, I placed an order for an array of their signature dishes, swayed by the laudatory reviews on both TikTok and Instagram. Our culinary selection spanned from deep-fried fish in chili sauce, steamed fish with lime, tomyum seafood, Bangkok fried beef, beef green curry, squid with salted egg, and their celebrated omelette to a medley of mixed vegetables. However, our initial excitement turned to dismay upon the arrival of our eagerly awaited order.
The much-anticipated highlight, the deep-fried fish, arrived cold and over-fried, resulting in an unfortunate dryness. The accompanying signature sauce failed to impart the expected uniqueness. The squid with salted egg, hailed as a culinary masterpiece, presented an unusual taste, straying significantly from the anticipated salted egg flavor and submerged in an unappealing gravy. The recommended omelette, touted as a gastronomic must-try, proved regrettable, being excessively oily and soggy, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste of pure oil.
Even the beef green curry and Bangkok fried beef, held in high expectations, fell short of the acclaimed standards. The overall dining experience failed to align with the overwhelming hype surrounding the establishment. In conclusion, our visit to this restaurant proved to be a substantial disappointment. The eagerly awaited family meal did not live up to its expectations, and regrettably, this marks our inaugural and final visit to the venue. The expenditure of RM545 on overhyped cuisine left us with a pervasive sense of dissatisfaction and...
Read moreI dont know why people are calling this authentic thai food with the lack of flavour, foods are bland, tomyam is lacking the tomyam flavour by A LOT (not a hint of sour, no spiciness, lack of protein for what they are charging as well - 3 prawns and few squids and thats it) salted egg squid was in no way have salted egg flavour, its like squid cook with sauces and again very bland. The most special omelette as claim by Mr Samat is honestly nothing special at all, not fluffy not that crispy just plain beaten eggs. Never been to original samat in BKK but very disappointed to come all the way took us 1 hour and being served with bland foods. Service also requires A LOT of improvement, we were stood up for 10 mins with no one greeting us, one waiter ask for the booking name and never came back to confirm with us, another female waiter came by and when we ask whether they are making our drinks per what we have booked via whatsapp earlier she replied “i dont know, maybe its in the kitchen” end up we have to double triple check our order with 3 different waiters.
Overall, not worth the trip, a lot of improvements needed from the service to the food - and please dont call yourself authentic thai food, a shame to claim you are bringing authentic thai flavour when there are plenty out there in KL with so much better taste thai foods than this.
If you are still keen to come after reading this, you are bold haha but remember to make a reservation first, they didnt even bother to put a remark reservation required anywhere on their IG or tiktok so so many that came when we’re having dinner had to go home disappointed because apparently they are fully booked (but tables are still empty by...
Read moreWent here yesterday for early dinner. We ordered seafood tomyam (regular), stir fried beef, & omelette. My husband was really excited to try the foods because he already tried the original Samat Thai in Thailand.
But, we are disappointed.
First, as a restaurant that is a franchise from a famous restaurant in Thailand, the quality of food are very bad. Seafood tomyam was tasteless, only have 3 shrimps, 3 mussels, & a few squid slices with no sight of vege at all. The seafood were not fresh & have fishy smell. The stir fried beef only taste salty. Not fragrant and i think it supposedly marinated but don’t taste the marinate at all and just nothing special. The omelette was okay but with the price, we actually expected it to be more special.
Second, the drinks come in take away container. Please use appropriate cups or washable cups. This is a proper restaurant not a stall.
Lastly, the tables and chairs looks worn out and dirty. Overall, for us, the food price are not worth the poor quality. We don’t mind paying extra for high quality foods. We hope Samat Thai can improve their quality of foods same with the one...
