I recently visited The Humble Food Company and had a good experience overall, but there were definitely some areas that could be improved. **Food**: The food was delicious, especially the mac and cheese, fish and chips, and lamb steak. The flavors were great, but there were some drawbacks in presentation and portion sizes. The mac and cheese came in a small hot pot and didn't look particularly appetizing, and the lamb steak was also a bit small, which felt disappointing considering the price. **Price**: Pricing at the restaurant is a mixed bag. Some dishes felt quite pricey given the portion sizes, while others were reasonably priced. It's a place where you might have to carefully consider what you're ordering if you're budget-conscious. **Service**: Unfortunately, the service was lacking. The staff were not very friendly, and I found them inattentive. A bit more care and respect for customers would go a long way in enhancing the dining experience. On the bright side, the soft drinks are free-flow, which is a nice perk. **Ambience**: The restaurant offers hourly parking, and on weekends, there are plenty of spaces available, making it convenient for diners. The atmosphere was pleasant overall, but the service staff need to elevate the experience. I'm not entirely sure about the background of the cooks, but it seemed that there were more foreign cooks, possibly from Bangladesh, than local ones. Overall, despite a few flaws, I had a good experience, mainly due to the food quality.

I like coming here because they offer smaller food portions for a small eater like me. Even so, the price for full portion meals are still really affordable. Our go-to is their carbonara, even though the size is supposedly “small”, it’s enough to feed an adult. My newest fave is their stuffed beef pita bread (RM7.90 I think). The meat wasn’t dry, no beefy smell, the pita bread was lightly toasted so it’s soft and crispy around the edge. Tried their creme brûlée too, it was just okay but I’ll keep coming here, as long as the food is great, price is affordable and waiters are polite. At the moment, they have all three. Edit: 1. I finally tried their Laksa Johor, not bad. The gravy is thick and packed with fish meat. I’ve had better ones but this is good too. Only RM15.90. 2. They also have a play area now. Quite convenient for parents with small kids. 3. The only downside to visiting this place is peddlers are free to enter the premises to sell something to you or ask for donation. I hope the management can improve on this and get their staff to restrict the access because some patrons won’t appreciate being disturbed while having their meals.

We ordered the set worth RM39, it was worth it as you get the large sets and an appetiser and drinks to accompany. We added the brownies and ice cream which my daughter gave a thumbs up, she is my brownie expert ☺️ food quality wise it’s ok, the laksa goreng actually tasted good but it was basic as in some minced chicken and a few square shaped bell peppers. The mac and cheese was actually ok because it wasn’t too creamy as you would normally experience, was just nice but it could’ve come in a bigger plate. The laksa johor also tasted good but for RM15.90 the bowl was super small. My problem was also the laksa goreng as it was super chewy, the idea of laksa goreng isn’t new and it could use a little more boiling time as I ended up swallowing most of it without being able to fully chew on them. The taste for both the laksa goreng and laksa johor was however good . Atmosphere was ok, music was good, parking ample.

Better makan dekat rumah

When I first came here, the food and service were good. The second time I brought my family to eat here, the food was bad. We ordered carbonara, grilled chicken, chicken chop 2, chicken parmigiana, and spaghetti aglio oilo. Carbonara tasted bland, and I could get a cheaper price at other Western restaurants. The chicken chop and grilled chicken were so dry. And aglio olio kering like sahara desert! The chicken parmigiana came with salad with NO DRESSING, just vegetables. I requested dressing from the waiter, and the waiter said, "There should be no dressing on the salad for that chicken parmigiana menu." He called out to the chef from my table, asking, "Chicken parmigiana salad, should it have dressing?" The chef inside said, "No." I was like, "Okay, chill dude, I'm just asking for salad dressing because you guys just gave me vegetables. I'm not kambing eating raw veggies." After a few minutes, thatt waiter sent dressing to my table. I dont understand, the issue could have been solved if you guys had just given us dressing, no need being sarcastic. I think if you guys want to come here, bring mayo, sesame dressing from house coz this place did not serve dressing if you guys ordered chicken parmagiana. My brother even said, "Better to eat at Polperro, it's cheaper." Sekurang kurangnya polperro chicken chop gravvy dia sedap and okay with the price. Bit here, alll teruk. Better makan dekat rumah. The service was baddd, though the other waiters were good except for that one. That one yang...

We used to frequent Humble Chef 2–3 years ago when the menu was more compact and fuss-free - which we absolutely loved.

Unfortunately, on our recent visit, we found that the menu has expanded significantly, and not in a good way. The added variety seemed to come at the expense of quality and service.

A senior female waitstaff was notably unfriendly. She didn’t provide the set menu initially, and when we asked for it, she handed it over with visible irritation.

Our drink didn’t arrive until we reminded them, and the colouring set that was supposed to come with the kids’ meal also had to be requested. What used to be a small set of crayons for kids to bring home has now been replaced with a single sheet of paper and a box of worn-out coloured pencils owned by the restaurant - half of which were missing.

Price hikes have not translated into improved service or food quality. The meatballs were tough and chewy - difficult to finish. Same goes to the roasted chicken.

That said, the younger waitress was friendly and accommodating, and the young cashier was polite and helpful.

We hope the management takes this feedback constructively. Training staff in basic hospitality and revisiting the overextended menu could...
