We had: Butter prawns: it was dry, but didn't really feel like the butter prawns I ate in other shops. Like the small crunchy things you'd usually find around the prawns was not there, they had some softer butter-like stuffs but it didn't give me the butter dish feeling. The taste of the prawn could be improved and be stronger, it didn't really have that much of a taste Lemon chicken: it was like deep fried chicken and while eating I could think that there are areas of fats on one side, hard at one side, and then a transparent lemon liquid was poured on it. But the liquid didn't feel like lemon enough. There was no lemon put at the side for presentation either. So it was confusing if it was the correct dish until I tried the liquid and it actually wasn't a natural lemon taste enough and it's thickness was similar to water I guess. And then when that was put on some deep fried chicken I don't think it went well together Sizzling tauhu: the tauhu could've had better taste. Maybe it could be a better made tauhu. But there was a lot of tauhu so plus point for that Fried egg: was okay I guess, not much to comment on this, it was still okay in comparison to others The plain water had some taste in it, the shop might want to check on that a bit. When you eat all the dishes together with rice they don't go well together like not blend in. The staffs were okay and seemed nice but the taste can be really improved. I think the issue might have been due to some changes to the cook maybe, so it's okay. I'm not sure if that's the case, however, this shop has so much potential and I believe that the shop can do...
Read moreIt was Raya break I travelled all the way from KL to visit my relative at Kuala Selangor. Later we decided to have nice seafood dinner. As most of the places was packed and need to queue at out at the restaurant. Since it can accommodate my family we, so we decide to give it a try.
1st turn off was there was no crab stock left as it has finished for lunch. Cant accept this as they are located next to seafood supply.
2nd they did pre amp us that the food would take longer, we didn't fuss about it. With hope the food would taste amazing, but to our disappointment it wasn't.
Tom Yam soup - barely could taste tom yam, more of asam soup. only 3 prawns was served with no other item like squid, slide chicken or baby corn.
Butter squid - barely could taste anything butter-ly. only flour taste on the squid.
The only saviour was lemon chicken as there was a bit of taste in it and worth for wait of 45mins for the food.
To sum up while i went to the counter to pay, cashier told me her chef is tired of cooking since noon, so she was worried if the taste was good? I'm not sure I should feel good for the honesty or like wise? But yet it was a great disappointment for us as we expected more...
Read moreI had a disappointing dining experience at Yu Jia Ren restaurant in Kuala Selangor. The food was bland and took an unreasonably long time to be served. This wasn't due to the restaurant being busy during peak holiday seasons, as I noticed neighboring restaurants serving food faster despite having more customers.
After waiting for over half an hour, I had to inquire with the waitress about the status of our order. To my surprise, I discovered that many other tables were also waiting for their food, and most customers had been waiting for at least 60 minutes. It's unclear if the restaurant is facing a shortage of chefs or ingredients. While I appreciate the restaurant's recent renovations, I cannot recommend it based on my experience. The service and food quality were simply unacceptable. Unless you're willing to wait for an extended period and are primarily interested in eating seafood, I would advise against visiting Yu Jia Ren. Hope they will improve...
