My hubby brought me here for lunch. Told me he discovered a hidden gem in Kota Kemuning😋. Hubby’s been in Kota Kemuning since 2006 before and after (now) his factory was completed. I think he know most or almost all the makan joints here. Yong Tau Foo wasn’t one of his favs but fish is. Knowing I loved Chee Cheong Fun and YTF, he said I’ll enjoy the food here.
We loved almost anything fish or made with fish etc…
The restaurant is clean and surprisingly no flies! Was expecting a fishy smelling place and irritating flies circling your food but nada. I’m definitely coming back.
Had CCF and their premium clay pot YTF. Premium refers to their fresh water fish (which I dislike because of brackish taste) but my hubby already patronised once so he confirmed no fishy foul flavour. Now it’s my personal fav!
I loved their food as it’s not too salty and I can guess not many will like their desert Tong Sui as it’s not sweet. I don’t like too sweet or too salty as I’m a bit allergic to both. I guess you can request the Tong Sui to be sweeten. But personal taste…noodles (mee) not for me as it tasted vinegary.
Tapau their boneless mackerel…sorry nicely wrapped so can’t see...
Read moreDidn't find their food anything special to govern the pricing they are asking for. Service is something I hope that they will improve upon. We sat down and waited for a good 5-10 mins. The place was maybe 40% full. Everyone was standing around and didn't want to serve us. We went to the counter to get the menus on our own from the counter top. Guy came over 5 mins later, promoting their 10 pcs claypot set. We said that we preferred to go ala carte. He didn't take it well and walked off. Came back a couple of minutes later to take our order. Their fried stuff were soggy and tough. Their soup is basically full of pepper. The only thing nice part is their meat, quite flavourful with addition of dried cuttlefish bits. Unfortunately their service level had really soured the whole experience, being our first time there. Sorry, not likely that we will come back...
Read morePrice may be steeper than other usual YTF joints but it is compensated by the size and quality. They use premium pork / fish as filling and the size served is noticeably larger than usual.
Skip the hassle to decide and opt for the set instead. They are also flexible to change some of the items to your liking. 2 versions available - soup or braised. Personally prefer the soup version and it is refillable. Did not feel thirsty at all post meal. The braised version is something different and not bad either. It has a hint of spiciness to it.
Personal favourites are the brinjal, fish ball and the pork patty. Space is clean and spacious and...
