KK Ocean Point Restaurant — Restaurant in Shah Alam

Visiting this place after many years. We were otw back home from a vacation and was in need for some nice malaysia Chinese food! Called this shop and warmly welcomed by the boss and we said we might be arriving just in time for last order. Owner said no worries, they can wait or perhaps we can place our orders via phone and estimated arrival time, and they will prepare accordingly. Arrived and repeated the order and waited for 5 to 10 mins and we got our food. Probably they just started cooking minutes before we stepped in. Which is a good thing as they could have prepared much earlier and the food wouldn't have been piping hot. We ordered simple dishes. White rice and Jasmine tea pot for a group of 4. The fish was RM65 I guess. And total bill was around RM187 all in. Will definitely come back to try other dishes. Mainly for 3 reasons. They are nice and welcoming, taste is good and it's clean...

Ocean Point Restaurant – mention it and most folks in Kota Kemuning would have been to it at one time or another. It is a very popular eatery. What started as one shoplot has expanded to four over the years. I ordered the salted vegetable fish head bee hoon soup this time around. It comes boiling hot in a claypot with the steam still emanating. The broth comes with a natural sweetness from the fish mixed with the savours of the salted vegetables. Throw in some tomatoes, ginger and tofu and you get a wonderful mix of aromatic crunch. The flesh of the fish head is tender whilst the gelatin adds a smooth mouth-watering feel. The bee hoon (rice vermicelli) is slightly thicker than normal and soaks up the savoury-sour broth, making each mouthful simply unforgettable. Food - super super super expensive. portion not much. fish overcooked and flesh not smooth. By the way, the Sotong medium cost RM80?!!!

Service - bad. they purposely told you no “cheaper fish” on last minute (2 hrs before your dinner function), but we have booked and confirmed the dishes at least 2 weeks in advance. Force you to take more expensive fish (RM160). Ok additionally, the fish we ordered cook via normal steam but end up gave you smtg else - Teow Chew Steam (and the taste is not nice at all). Ordered sweet potato leave but gave you kangkung instead (RM35 for medium kangkung huh?)…. Super bad service and not honest / not ethical in business.

Atmosphere - very very very noisy. table is in higher in position, not comfortable in sitting.
