[January 2023] Went about 9am and shop is fully packed. We did queue for a bit. You may go thru the menu first and fill up the order sheet to save some time. For takeaway you might proceed to the counter directly. Table setting are extremely near, not very comfy to slack long. We tried out a few dishes, noodle portion are super huge.
Chicken soup hor fun: Okay good. It has a hint of salted fish. Slightly different from the outside stalls. Quite appetizing. Dry curry mee: No no. Whole dish was rather flat and no ipoh curry mee kick. And the fuchuk/fried tofu skin as hard as rubber sheet. Overfried pork slice. Curry mee: No no. Soup is quite salty and MSG ish. Overfried pork slice. Just a very normal curry not milky broth. Close to vege curry type. Signature coffee: No no. It didn't suit us. It gives a char kinda bitterly backtaste. Like burnt bean. It feels awful from throat to nose. Portuguese tart: No no. Undercook pastry skin on the bottom layer. But top was baked on super high heat until crisp. So you feel the Oily soggy pastry skin on bottom. Yuckkks.
Total bills Rm55.
Not recommend this place. Poor food quality. Just overhyped on social media. And most side ingredients mass prep but unable to retain the freshness and crispy texture. Better drive to ipoh for...
Read moreIpoh hor fun broth is nice, consistency need to be improved because have 3 bowls on same table but 2 don’t have much oil and 1 bowl with much oil. I like it with oil. Chicken cutlet/bites instead of shredded chicken, doesnt taste nice. It’s big although ordered the small. Still 4/5 because broth is really nice, hard to find in KK area.
Hakka fried pork noodle, fried pork is generous, from slim to fat is on the plate. Bean sprouts (nga choi) is ipoh style, fat & short, very crunchy. Please give more noodle, hor fun is bigger portion than this 5/5
Most of pastries were sold out on 26/12 but we get to try butter kaya puff. Tbh the skin is quite salty. Please reduce the salt. 4.5/5
Cold drink is very good in packaging, it’s an effort.
Price: if dine in a lot these types of kopitiam enough, the price is acceptable.
What I recommend: Kaya butter puff, ipoh hor fun, hakka fried pork noodle
Hopefully they can maintain the quality and just improve slightly, will definitely visit again, please survive in Kota...
Read moreDefinitely a go-to spot if you’re looking for a hearty Malaysian breakfast or brunch. The place feels nostalgic yet modern, with that kopitiam charm that instantly makes you feel at home.
The kaya butter toast is perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, paired with rich half-boiled eggs – a classic done right. Their signature kaw-kaw coffee really lives up to its name too: strong, aromatic, and satisfying without being overly bitter. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable for the quality.
Service is friendly and efficient even when the shop gets busy, and food comes out surprisingly fast. It’s also family-friendly, making it a great spot whether you’re catching up with friends, bringing parents for breakfast, or just needing your caffeine fix.
If you’re around the area, this kopitiam is truly worth a visit – it’s no wonder Yitcha Kawkaw has become a...
