I was drawn to this cafe by their unique offering; Peruvian Chicken. It was a long trek to get there but it was certainly worth the effort.
To start, their Mushroom Soup was thick, creamy and had chunks of chopped mushrooms in it. You could taste the made from scratch goodness of this soup. Served with a dash of olive oil on top and a house made focaccia bread slice on the side, this was truly tasty and gets a Highly Recommended.
The Peruvian Chicken was a well marinated whole spring chicken. Tender and juicy inside with a crispy and flavourful skin, this is worthy of being their signature dish. A green sauce (Aji Verde) is served with the chicken and it was slightly spicy from green chillies I suspect. It paired very well with the chicken. The dish came with a generous serving of potatoes with onions and this could easily be shared by two small eaters. This dish gets a Highly Recommended as well.
The Beef Chimichurri Sandwich on the other hand was a little under-seasoned. I felt the Chimichurri sauce would have benefitted from some extra salt. The beef was good quality and tender. The ciabatta bread was perhaps a little oily too. The sandwich came with a tomato soup on the side. You can spoon some of the soup into the sandwich or dunk the sandwich into the soup. Or you could just have the soup separately.
For dessert, the Espresso CrÚme Brûlée Toast was spot on. A crispy French toast doused with an espresso shot and topped with a scoop of ice cream and sprinkled with toasted almond slivers. This is Highly Recommended as well.
On a repeat visit, I had the Peruvian Chicken again. This time however, the chicken was rather dry and possibly reheated. So this was rather disappointing.
The Roast Poussin (Chicken) however was tender and juicy. The sauce was tasty and the grilled carrots, potatoes and broccoli were nicely grilled and tasty as well.
Gulai Lemak Daging Berasap was pasta with tender beef slices in a creamy coconut cream with chili padi.
The Peach Danish was dry and hard - probably from sitting in the display too long. The Nutella Brownie however was creamy and chocolatey. This is Recommended.
Kudos to the chefs who take great trouble in making everything from scratch (with the exception of the...
Read moreHands down, one the THE BEST cafes/restaurants in Shah Alam. The first time I came here, I knew it'd be a place I'd frequent many years to come, provided that they keep up with the current standards.
The food was divine. Many cafes provide good food but they're not memorable. The food here tantalized my tastebuds so much so that it remains one of the places where I remember each dish fondly.
The name La Carne which refers to beef/meat is apt because they do provide the most mouthwatering meaty dishes. My absolute fave is the Barbacoa, Hash and Eggs that is available from morning. Some of the dishes like pizzas and pastas are available only after 12pm, but they've got enough options for breakfast like big breakfast and bagels that will keep you satisfied especially if you love authentic western style breakfast.
The tables are limited so I suggest coming outside public holidays / peak hours if you wish to avoid the crowd especially since it is popular with the locals. However the staff have always been attentive each time we came, even when we had to wait because there weren't enough staff working on one of our visits, they politely informed us and apologised for the long waiting time without us having to prompt them. Highly appreciate that.
The price point is quite steep, but I think it's on par with other restaurants serving cafe-style menu around Klang Valley. (However, even though the coffee and beverages were good, the amount was a lot less than I thought suitable based on the price.) Given that the taste and service have extremely exceeded my expectations, I think that the price is rather justified.

Read moreOrdered chimichuri beef, medium well. The steak was so hard to chew, i guessed its a wrong cut of sirlion. As somebody who is not too fussy but love steak, i tried to eat another bite but it was just inedible. I can tolerate if its just too dry but in this case it just cant be chewed properly.
We called the crew politely, and explain that the steak was too hard to eat. I asked can the kitchen make another one or let me order other dish.
After discussing with another crew, a girl from the counter came n apologized that i felt the steak was bad but insisted so many steaks was served today n nobody complains.
She said they cannot cancel the steak but will give 25% discount. Unbelievable. I asked how do i eat an unedible steak? She said i can pack n bring home. Unbelievable again. Told her if she can cancel, i will order other dish as i had limited time to get lunch at other place, she said no cannot. So i said, ok, i'll pay the 75% of a steak that i cannot eat then.
After about 20mins waiting for my lunchmate to finish their food, we call for bill. The same girl apologized again n said they wont charge for the steak. What? I just cant believe this. If she had told me earlier, i can order other dish for my lunch.
I like this place because they serve good coffee and its my go place for my caffein fix. Its sad that now i might not go there anymore because the crew was not train to give the best service. Please know that we did not make a big fuss about our issue n keep our voice relatively low when we talk about our issue so that we wont catch other customers' attention. For the sake of the place!
I wish this place all the best, but best is long way to come if the management dont do anything to improve their front service issues in which i saw there are several same bad reviews on the...
