Nihonkai Kota Kemuning Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Shah Alam

Nihonkai was always my go to restaurant whenever i visit Kota Kemuning . However I notice this time the dining experience was quite disappointing.

I notice their lunch set has become smaller portion as compare to what I had before. It doesn’t look appetising like it used to. Smaller cuts of sashimi and one mouthful of side dishes. The miso soup is still good tho.

The restaurant closes at 3pm but they already starting to ask customer to pay for the bill at 2.30pm, the cashier did tell that we can stay until 3pm no problem. I have no issue on this however it was quite uncomfortable that the worker started to shut down some of the lights when there are diners still around. Its like indirectly usher you out the door.

The whole experience felt like the business is trying to cut cost in every ways while customer satisfaction is secondary. Hope this issues can...

Had been eating this shop for few years already, still love how the portions are big for the salmon sets.

Ordered Salmon Butteryaki Set, Tempura Set. For me the portion is huge and I am willing to pay for it for price of RM32.50. It includes two chunks of Salmon grilled with butter, chawanmushi, miso soup, pickled vege and chilli. This salmon butteryaki fresh and cooked to perfection, the exterior (especially the thin ones) are crispy and the insides are soft. I had ate this around 8pm today, sometimes when I visited at around 6pm the salmon might be slightly overcooked (more dry a bit) but Im okay with it —- its all dependent on the chef of the day.

Their green tea is complimentary. Had made a special request for warm water for my parents...

My birthday celebration at the Nihonkai was exceptional. We reserved a private room to accommodate my family of 8, and it provided both spaciousness and privacy, making our gathering enjoyable. The owner was incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs, which added a personal touch to our experience.

Always love to come here as it offers excellent food quality and pricing is reasonable. We ordered beef teppanyaki, salmon bento set, fried Udon noodle, fried mix vege tempura, and the special sushi that's recommended by the owner which is not on the menu! Yummm....
