Ah yes, one of our regular lunch spots. Puan Sri Zaleha has long been a family friend whom we can address as Kak Leha. This visit has been quite overdue because of the MCO and since she said that she will be at the Tea Pot, my wife and I decided to have our lunch there. She wanted her asam pedas and I chose the roast beef. The post MCO menu was a truncated one for obvious reasons buat Puan Sri did say that there will be a gradual transition back to the regular menu, by popular demand. She was also pleased with the steady stream of customers that were patronising the deli. Tried the Mee Rebus, Roast Chicken and Daging Salai Masak Lemak several times over the past 4 months. The Mee Rebus was excellent until today, when it was tasteless (tawar). Roast chiclen was also excellent until I had it 3 weeks ago, when it was served not freshly cooked and the potatos were stale. The Daging Salai Masak Lemak was in a class of its own, generous helping of smoked beef in thick and creamy gravy but when I had it last week, found the piece of salad, served with a piece of cucumber and sambal belacan, to be slimy (berlendir). This is probably my 5th time being here. The food was super delicious. I ordered the beef lasagna and my friend ordered the roast chicken. Then for dessert we had the bread pudding. I loved my beef lasagna as it’s really big and cheesy. The taste was savoury and satisfying. I wished it was a bit hotter than when it was served. The place is beautiful and very sweet, reminiscent of an English cottage. Also, this adorable cafe has been around for YEARS! I was a UiTM student in 2008 and it was already there.
