This is the first time in my life I’ve ever written a bad review for a restaurant — but what happened here was so unacceptable, I feel obligated to speak up.
We came in expecting a decent hotpot experience, but what we got was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had.
First, the mala soup base was completely tasteless and flat. We asked the staff three separate times to help improve the flavor, but it remained just as bland. There was no fragrance, no depth — absolutely nothing you’d expect from a proper mala broth. The garlic, coriander, and dipping sauces were also of extremely poor quality — no aroma, no freshness, clearly cheap ingredients. We’ve tried many hotpot places over the years, and this was hands down the worst in terms of flavor.
But the real frustration came with the service. Towards the end of our meal, a staff member came over and told us we only had 5 minutes left. Not once were we told about any dining time limit when we arrived or while we were eating. We were first-time customers, and for them to suddenly rush us like that was already disappointing. What made it worse was that they tried to shut off the gas while we still had raw meat on the table, and then started clearing our table even though we were still trying to finish our food. It felt like we were being chased out — no basic courtesy, no respect.
And if that wasn’t enough — the next day, my husband developed a serious case of diarrhea. For the past few days, we had been eating the same meals, except for this hotpot dinner. He ate a lot more of the seafood, especially the oysters, while I only had a small amount. We are now highly suspicious that the issue came from their poor food handling, especially of the seafood. If his condition worsens and requires hospitalization, I will not hesitate to report this to the Ministry of Health. Food safety is not a joke.
We left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and genuinely concerned for our health. This was not just a disappointing experience — it was a complete failure in food quality, hygiene, and basic...
Read moreSo bad, i had been there for four times. Two times when i got the sour plum soup there was flies in it. So the fourth times, i got to tell the two young managers but not the shopkeeper because i dun see the female shopkeeper that time. So i told them there was flies in the soup, and HOW DISSAPOINTED WAS THEY SUSPECTED THAT I WAS THE ONE WHO PUT THE FLIES IN IT TO RUIN THEIR REPUTATION AND AFTER THAT THEY DID NOT CHANGE THE SOUP. PLUS, I DUN GET ANY APOLOGIES FROM THAT TWO YOUNG MANAGERS (ONE IS SHORT AND ANOTHER ONE IS TALL). The last few times when i was with my family, we did told this to the female shopkeeper, her attitude was better that these two young managers. She quickly changed the soup with another new soup. I would never again go to the shop. Sorry for the nice shopkeeper. These two young managers ruined my days, i would rather go somewhere else then. REMINDER FOR ALL WHO PLANNED TO GO THERE, be careful with the soup, and dun tell the managers there was flies in it, otherwise you will be like me, being suspected as culprit. (Plus, the seafood was not fresh as before, the seafood smell fishy,...
Read moreFrom the day they open until now, we have been visiting this shop. The food was great especially they provide fresh crab with this price, and the soup was really nice too suited our taste, the service was great too. And airconds are cold enough to enjoy our hotpot! Staff are really friendly and attentive. Well trained.
However, sometimes is really crowded, it has long queue, after our dessert we were asked kindly by their staffs to clear the table and pay the bill due to is peak hours. And we are okay about it. Even tho, we haven't reached our 2 hours dining time, we still give out table to the next customer and we went to mamak nearby to continue chit chatting with our friends. Being considerate is the only thing we could do to let the next customers enjoy their food! Cheers, recommended! Reasonable pricing...
