The only reason I was tempted to try this appam place is because of that one article/post by FMT which claimed this place to be the best appam place in Klang Valley. As someone who grew up eating the best appam (Love Mom in Klang) I feel the need to taste, experience and rate this place myself.
So there I go one Saturday morning after my football training with the girls. The place gives you such a homey welcome vibe not just because they run the business from their living room but also thanks to the warm welcome from Aaron and Narmatha. They even allowed me to visit the kitcen while waiting for our order.
We were starving when we reached so we ordered almost everything on the menu; paal appam, paal appam with jaggery, with coconut sambal and egg appam with coconut sambal and last but not least is the masala chai. Sadly they didnt have bru coffee on that day. Safe to say that everything was so good, the appams were soft, delicious, light and the authentic taste of the jaggery and coconut sambal which you could ask for extra (Im pretty sure you can if you are nice enough to them, lol).
I cant help but to compare every bite with appam from Love Mom, even my friends were excited to know my review and final verdict. I am not biased but Amachi’ appams comes really close second to my top pick. The only different i would say is the size and the ampunt of santan used, I prefer it to be a meal rather than snack. To prove that their appams are as good I brought back some for my dad, and guess what? Until today he couldnt tell that they were not from our usul place. Im so happy that I give it a try despite having a favourite. I wish them the best, cant wait to come with other friends and try their coffee this time.
However, if theres one thing they could improve is definetely the waiting hour. Coming here we were aware about that, we hope by now after months of operation they have added more staff and a bigger kitchen to make those delicious appam for their...
Read moreIf you love appam as much as I do, this is the place to go get your fix! Tucked in a housing area in Subang this is truly little hidden gem. Parking is easy; just be mindful when you park as it’s a residential neighbourhood. There was a nice parking attendant lady that helps guide and take care of the parking. So please listen to her instructions 😆 Located in a terrace house, the place is rather simple & straightforward. Customers dine in the living area of the house- seats are limited. People visit throughout the day to enjoy the appams. Peak times are usually around breakfast, after lunch and tea time. We got their: ⚫️ OG of appams the pal appam- simple yet unassuming with a custardy middle and crispy edges, this was as comforting as you can get frm an appam.
⚫️ pal appam with jaggery- add some brown sugar & voila! you get a sweet appam. this was good as it was not overly sweet
⚫️ egg appam with coconut sambal- this was so good; the appam had a cooked egg with a runny yolk, sprinkled with ground black pepper that was not too overpowering but add just a small amount of spiciness and a side of that fragrant coconut sambal- this was the bomb! the sambal was fragrant and complimented the whole dish so well. it was my favourite amongst the three appam mainly because this is my first time having a savoury appam.
⚫️ masala chai- having this tea after munching down all those hoppers is the perfect way to end the meal. They also sell some Indian snacks that you can sample on & buy too. Overall we enjoyed our appams and would definitely be back for...

If you’ve been following Amachi’s Palagaram since its early days, you’ll know this isn’t just a café – it’s a story of passion, perseverance, and piping hot appams.
Back then, it was a quaint little setup run from a house. You’d queue for what felt like eternity just to get through the front door, and then wait some more for your golden, crispy-edged reward. It was part of the charm, really – a test of patience that always ended in delight.
Fast forward to today, and what a glow-up! Amachi’s now operates from a proper shophouse, and it’s every bit as cosy and inviting as you’d hope. There’s a proper kitchen (hallelujah!), more hands on deck beyond the original husband-and-wife duo, and service that’s impressively swift without losing the personal touch.
The drink menu may be limited, but don’t let that fool you – what they do serve is excellent. One sip and you’ll forget you even wanted options.
Now, let’s talk appams. The variety has grown tremendously – it’s like watching a family recipe book come to life, one plate at a time. Whether you're a purist or in the mood for something adventurous, there’s something here to satisfy.
Oh, and for those wondering – yes, parking is a breeze. No more neighbourhood circling or awkward reverse-parking attempts.
All in all, Amachi’s has evolved beautifully without losing its soul. A must-visit for appam lovers or anyone in need of a warm, comforting...
