Avoid at all cost. Service is REALLY terrible. I hardly ever leave bad reviews — but felt compelled to do so after our horrible experience.
Do not be fooled by the pleasant interior design to think it will match the food and service. We were walk-ins at 9:50. During which we were told that 10PM was last call and they close at 11PM. When we were seated the waitress gave us the menu and stood by us refusing to leave — I had no chance to even open and look at the second page, but she was already insisting I place my order. My husband asked if we could have 2 minutes to just look at the menu quickly, and she said, “no, just order now, the kitchen is closing”. If that is the case why even seat us in the first place?? Why say it’s last call? Just tell us the kitchen is closed — that even 2 minutes is too late. Never mind, we thought already sat down and thought ok, we will quickly just order a random multi meat platter (because I can’t even see what other choice of meats are there). But there wasn’t even a proper thank you or sorry.
Fast forward to cooking — no explanation was given on the food that arrived, how long it’s recommended to be cooked. And what’s worse?? THEY NEVER CLEANED OR REPLACED THE SMOKE HOOD! They never come to check on your grill to see if it needs to be replaced.
Halfway through the meal, BLACK yucky grease from the smoke hood above the grill started dripping onto our meat. After the first time, they only just replaced our meat and said “oh cause the grill is too dark already” — then they changed the metal mesh of the grill. Which the waiter didn’t even bother to do earlier. If it’s black why not check and change it often like other yakiniku restaurants?? It’s because they don’t even bother to check on you and your grill.
And then, after the second time grease dripped again on our meat — they then only decided to replace the grease trap of the smoke hood — and they changed it WHILE FOOD IS STILL ON OUR GRILL, while we are grilling our food. So disgusting and being pregnant myself, it was completely UNHYGIENIC.
We didn’t even bother to finish to eat their “replacement meat”. Cause it’s just so disgusting and unappetising by then.
At the end of the meal. The waitress came with the bill, and asked how was the meal. But as my husband was trying to tell her about the rude experience — she just shut him up by talking about scanning our credit card again as it didn’t go through.
Didn’t even follow up or apologise.
Please, please just avoid this place. Stupidly priced for less than mediocre meat, and HORRIBLE service.
The meat was as the other comments mentioned — not up to standard. If you are familiar with Yakiniku cuts — the meat here is terrible. Might as well buy your own Australian beef from Jaya Grocer and BBQ it yourself.
There is a FAR better yakiniku restaurant down the road called Tokyo Bijin — meat & service is superior there. It is our go-to place yet because it was full — we gave this place a try and regretted it terribly.
For Halal Yakiniku — make your way to Yakiniku Great or the many other restaurants. Just avoid this place.
I can 100% understand the low ratings & reviews...
Read moreIt I could rate with no star, I would have definitely not rated. Imagine bad experience even before dining.
Booked for 8 pax earlier this week through Umai. When we arrived, they said our booking was for upstairs table. However, my 86 year old grandmother is unable to climb the stair (staff also mentioned the lift was not working), so they decided to place us in one of the downstairs room. After settling down and ready to order, we had 2 other staffs rudely insisting us to move out from the room as it was already booked by another patron.
They also insist that we should sit in 2 separate tables which we refuse (does’t make sense when you come with a whole family and have to sit separate tables right!?!?). Then they said they have another smaller room that we can all fit just slightly tight. When I saw the room, it only fits a maximum 6 adults (2 long diner bench, wall to wall). There is no way that we are all able to fit another adult and a baby chair together, unless 1 person sits on the outside of the room and the child doesn’t get a sit (Hmm…not a very enjoyable Saturday lunch if I have to cramp with my child in a tiny room).
Their rude staffs need better training in learning better manners, be more polite, and learn how to manage their seatings better. It didn’t make sense to me to get us seated and then ask us to leave. They were so persistent that we all move upstairs after us telling them multiple times that my grandmother is unable to climb stairs.
Management needs to do sometime about this. So so bitter leaving the restaurant without...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. The service at Asumo SS15 is honestly one of the worst I’ve experienced in the Klang Valley. From the very beginning, the front reception staff gave off an air of complete disinterest - no warmth, no courtesy, and certainly no intention to make guests feel welcome. It felt as though they weren’t even interested in having customers dine there, which is shocking for any restaurant, let alone one positioning itself as a premium Wagyu destination.
When you’re paying a premium price, you expect not just good food but also attentive, professional service. Unfortunately, Asumo falls flat on both fronts. The lack of effort from the staff completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. With so many better Wagyu restaurants in the Klang Valley offering superior meat quality and far, far better service, there’s absolutely no reason to waste your money here.
For me, the poor service overshadows everything else. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere if you want both great Wagyu and a...
