Got here at 7.05pm because my falentine needed to make up. Place was nice and cozy but the first feel, aircon was bad. To top it off, it was a freaking hot day. Felt more like an el-freco dining experience.
Placed my orders at 7.10pm in the hot room, upstairs. Even the waitresses were panting and out of breath. Speaking of out of breath, I placed more n more orders over time. It was until 7.55pm our first dish came .
We ordered the omakase. Cheap, RM190 for 2 pax! What a bargain. Of course it deserves some attention. Besides the reviews in google were good.
First dish sake! Ok that's good to calm me down a lil. Reordered another bottle in 5 mins of which the cute waitress said "you belum minum habis". I replied Masa you bawa mesti habis. Trust enough it was empty after 15 mins. Second dish on the menu was a chawa mushi but it arrived 10 mins after our first dish which was the sashimi, 3rd dish on the menu. Maybe that's the price we have to pay to be served so. But not bad leh, my falentine said there is an insta influenza here. So still maybe can convince me to change the route this story is heading to.
8.11pm the orders outside of the omakase menu came. The soba grilled fish. On a side note, the staff was still very friendly and entertaining. not withstanding the long wait I think they did a good job to keep me occupied. Chawa mushi was not authentic. It felt like some leftover pun choi brown sauce was added inside.
Since then, the food came pouring in. Honestly, I think the food was good for the price paid. Staff was friendly, sashimi fresh ( even though they said salmon sold out, there were sufficient for the omakase menu). So no more complaints.
Overall, food good, waiting long, good Valentine's day and good staff.
P/s I need to get high again and drunk enough to continue the story which is...
Read moreWhen the whole row of shops is full with Japanese restaurants and you're the one that is towards the end of the row, it is indeed "rugi" for the restaurateur but to me it is a hidden gem. Just got to know that this restaurant is a traditional shop as it has run for more than 10 years. The quality of food is still top notch despite its years of operation. There was appetizer and not to mention free ice cream (two scoops summore ya) for every one of us.
As for the main course, not every restaurant makes good Zaru Soba but this restaurant in particular is one of the best. Another dish that we enjoyed very very much is the chicken teppanyaki. The meat is cooked to perfection with very strong butter and garlic taste, I was so surprised when I had my first piece because it was really really good. Suggest to have it while it's still hot to have the best experience. Didn't manage to take a picture of it as its visual is so-so only but dayum it does...
Read moreHyotan located further away from the group of Japanese restaurants opposite the Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC). The restaurant has the usual dinner set and sashimi as offered by other restaurant. The pricing in this restaurant are quite reasonable. I have chosen their chirashi sushi don dinner during my visit. Environment wise is good as they have many partition which provide privacy to the diners. If you are a fan of Japanese news and show, they have a television which show it. The chirashi don rice was not soft enough and too sourish. Perhaps too much vinegar in the rice. The sashimi on the rice has good variety even with some unagi. They have the best chawanmushi with shrimp and mushroom on the top of chawanmushi. Sashimi provided were not the freshest probably due to I went there on monday but quality...
