Had high hopes as this place is apparently frequented by a lot of Japanese. However, although the meat was fresh and tasty, the quality of the cuts was inconsistent with quite a few tough and sinewy bits.
Moreover, the so-called assorted kimchi we ordered had zero sourness, just a one dimensional spicy taste that was not good. The same issue happened with the onion rice dish. But at least their dipping sauces were pretty good.
As for the alcoholic drinks, it was shocking how completely watered down both our drinks were - literally, there was almost zero alcohol. For rm18, we basically were drinking just tea / calpis 🙄
But the most irritating thing is that the waitress essentially refused to give us the complimentary karaage and prawn crackers dish (FB promo) until very late in our meal, which was clearly her attempt to make us feel pressured to order more (she bugged us about this). When it finally came, the crackers were very tasty (although kinda salty) but the chicken was just like some bad version of KFC (no ginger or soy flavor at all) plus super salty. Also it was served with Thai chilli sauce 😑 I think any Japanese izakaya that serves bad karaage is a terrible place since that's a basic staple...
Read moreWas asked whether we wanted lettuce, which we thought it was FOC as most BBQ provides it for free, but turns out it wasn’t. The lettuce arrived was half spoilt which we put aside, the waitress saw and gave us another bowl but was the same portion that we threw out. The lettuce costed RM16, and it was for a bowl. Very very very unreasonable price for a bowl of lettuce, not mentioning it isn’t refillable. The staff were kind but the way they asked us into getting a bowl of lettuce were very unprofessional, and actually feels like a scam. We got the pork set for RM75 with pork loin, belly and fatty which is very pricey for the amount you get. They arrived with only one plate at first which I thought the rest were coming, only until when I started a second round of cooking, I noticed that all three types of pork were there. The meat weren’t anything very special or very fresh so unless if you’re very picky with your meat and this store somehow meets your standard then go for it. If not, it’s extremely overpriced for a plate of 360g+ pork to cost RM75.
FOR SHORT, food is expensive but staff is nice but not notch service so not worth the price. Go at your...
Read moreWe visited Tokyo Bijin Yakiniku and only ordered pork for our meal. They offer a variety of flavors and marinades, but since they provide dipping sauces, we decided to go with the most basic seasoning — just salt and pepper — to better enjoy the natural taste of the meat. The pork set we ordered (if I remember correctly) included pork belly and pork shoulder. Personally, I preferred the pork belly — it turned out deliciously savoury and crispy after grilling. My partner on the other hand, liked the pork shoulder more, as he isn’t a fan of fatty cuts and found the shoulder to be tender and flavorful.
We also ordered their Bijin Cold Noodles to complement the meat, and the broth was absolutely AMAZING — definitely a highlight! They also offer a wide range of alcoholic beverages, though we didn’t try any during our visit.
The atmosphere was cosy, with a classic Japanese yakiniku restaurant vibe. It’s fully air-conditioned, and each table has its own air vent, keeping the space comfortable and smoke-free.
While the prices are on the higher side, the quality and taste of the food made it well worth it. Highly recommended for a satisfying...
