Went there for lunch on Saturday, reach there around 1120 and made the order at 1139. There was only one table of customers beside us when we arrived. (means there was only 2 tables of customer) Our drink not yet out at 1208 (we only ordered one cold brew coffee and warm water), so I checked with waiter and he noticed the order wasn't gone through the kitchen :S At the same time, more customers were coming in and our drink has finally came. We kept waiting for our food until 1220 but nothing came out while other customers who came later than us have already started eating. I checked with the waiter (chinese guy with long hair), he said he will check with the kitchen, then come back to us said kitchen has started preparing our meals. Fine, I guess we have no choice but keep waiting. 10 minutes later, still nothing came out, while I can see they keep serving the food to other tables. So I checked with another waiter (chinese girl), this time, she never came back to me, and food keep coming out from kitchen to other tables. I made the third round of complaint to another waiter (non chinese), he said the kitchen missed the order bla bla bla....and promised the food will be ready in 5 min. When the food is served, the time was 1240. The way waiter handled the situation is absolutely horrible and hopeless. Because of your system mistake, I have to wait one hour for the food to be served. This is totally unacceptable. The food is not too bad, but sorry, this will be my last time...
Read moreDelicious Unagi? Yes please!
If you are a lover of Japanese cuisine and a huge fan of Unagi, do come and visit Rinjin Shokudou at Subang Jaya (They also have a branch in Bukit Jalil).
My Unagi Set came with 2 sides, potato salad and tamago. I love the smokiness of the duck slices in the potato salad, and the sweetness of the tamago. The unagi was slightly tough, yet surprisingly delicious and sweet.
No photos to show, but the salmon sashimi with yuzu was extremely delicious; a blend of savory and citrus give it a rich and complex flavor.
For dessert, I recommend the Rum and Raisin Burnt Cheese cake. The cake is pretty sweet and soft, and the raisins pickled in rum are a delight. The caramel pudding is also pretty good too, as it is milky and melts in your mouth.
The price was a bit high (duh I ordered expensive dishes), although there are also more affordable dishes served at the restaurant as well. The staff members were very friendly and attentive, and are equipped with the latest information about the deals and offers of the restaurant.
The atmosphere is very minimalistic, and reminded me of the Japanese word 侘び寂び(Wabi-sabi), and I love it a lot as I believe that in design, less is more. The only complaint I have are the mosquitoes, which I find odd that they exist in small clusters buzzing around the space during my visit.
All in all, will return with friends if I’m in the area. Otherwise, I’m looking to try out the Bukit Jalil Branch closer...
Read moreHad an amazing lunch at Rijin’s new outlet in Subang, a charming Japanese café nestled in an industrial area. This place offers traditional home-cooked Japanese food served in a wholesome set of mains, sides, and soup. It’s not your typical café—they focus a lot on fostering connections between people, and you can truly feel the warm, homely atmosphere. The space is spacious, with various seating options, from dining tables to cozy cushion sofas, all complemented by soothing music. You can see they use quality ingredients, such as Beacon chicken.
I was lucky to visit during a pop-up event, with a BBQ menu and live music performances, which made the lunch even more memorable. The vibe was just perfect!
I ordered the mustard sauce buta hambagu steak, which was incredibly soft, juicy, and packed with flavor—perfectly paired with rice. The cold tomato side dish was so refreshing, and I even tried the traditional fermented bean, which made the meal extra satisfying.
The location is super easy to find, marked by a small signboard at the entrance. There’s plenty of parking space available after you drive in. Just note there’s a church nearby, so it might get crowded during early Sunday services, but lunch and dinner times are usually fine.
I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their interesting menu options! Highly recommend this spot for delicious, authentic Japanese food and a cozy, welcoming...
