This is my first visit to this restaurant. We arrived about 2.40pm. There is this lady staff greeted us and asked how many of us. Suddenly one bespectacled Chinese guy appears from nowhere asking us to sit at those tables very near to that burning grill thing. We asked to sit further away as we can feel the heat coming from that thing. This Chinese guy with his unhappy face told us they are cleaning up and he will see if any tables available in there in a very sarcastic tone. Without checking further he asked us to sit next to the bar where we can see so many other tables available. To avoid anymore problem with him, we just sat down. As we are ready to order, we saw he was the only one around so we try to flag him down a few times but he sort lime pretended not seeing us. Then as he was walking pass us he just tell us to wait without looking at us. Minutes later he came taking our orders with his poker face, not a single word, stood there with his writing pad, jot down anything we ordered and sped off. The food was later served by others.
We don’t know what’s his real problem. Or he just behave that way his entire life. This kind of employee is the kind that ruin a decent business. Every other staffs good effort to serve the customers can be ruin by a problematic staff like this. The company should take a good look at this staff and understand why is he so grumpy. Salary not paid on time? Put him away from the customers view if he is just born to have attitude like this.
Other than this pathetic staff, the foods here are good. The rest of the foreign staffs are very helpful and attentive. Overall experience is good except that poker face. one star for now. This simple lunch cost almost RM200 and to endure such a...
Read moreManager by the name William answered the phone . I asked to take order for takeaway. He said “we are very busy now , i cannot take your order . If you want , you have to come over and take your order “. And so we called Din Tai Fung and ordered via phone, ( their restaurant were also packed with customer but the people there were courteous, polite and helpful . Din Tai fung staff ( the young guy) took our order . It was convenient and pleasant. Moving back to Robataya, this William guy should not be hired as a manager . No PR skills. More customers will move away from this restaurant with his couldnt careless attitude. When their restaurant is empty, he will talk to you when you pay at the register. But when their restaurant is full , he will ask (who are you? ) . I feel the company should replace his as a manager . He should be placed in the kitchen where there is no point of contact with customer. Anyway , this is just one person opinion. Oh by the way, this is the first time it happened, thought i share some light . I feel the management should know about how their manager treats their customers. Afterall , food business is all about service. And about food , their chicken on stick ( like satay ) , is dry and hard , and cold . To me , its horrendous. They should just remove that dish, just brings down the standard. Their eggs served with the set lunch , used to be a full sushi size , now its sliced 1/3 , cost...
Read moreMade a booking for 6.30pm for a dinner on 7.5.23, arrived at 6.25pm. The manager attitude was off as he made us felt as if we didnt have a booking.
Proceeded to order & had a hard time to get the menu. Had an ever harder time to get hold of someone to take the order, which was ok cause they might have manpower issue.
After a few minutes of taking the order, we realized one of the order was wrong. So we informed them, here comes the weird part. The manager came to tell us he cant cancel in the system, so we have to order something else to make the difference in value. The meal we wanted was lower in value compared to the wrong order.
So we told him that wasnt right as the order was made wrongly by his team, and the order was made a few minutes ago.
Then he gives us an unhappy face & comes back a few minutes later saying he will refund us the difference in cash.
Food came, it was warm bordering on the colder side. And all 4 of us was finishing our meal before my mum's order arrived, a salmon teriyaki.
Then we made payment. The manager was so sarcastic to us making us felt as if we have done a terrible wrong to him & he even refused to tear off the credit card slip from the machine, asking me to do it myself.
This is just so wrong, we felt like we have to suffer the manager's anger/ temper when all you want is to just enjoy a good dinner with your family after a long week.
Never again am I...
