My family has been living at just about a stone's throw away from where "Seventythirty" (/730) cheese burger is located for the past 9 years. During the course of these years, I have had the privilege of getting to know a few mobile burger stalls that have come and gone which cater almost always to the evening crowd. However, /730 is the most polarising "quick-bite" experience I have encountered based on crowd size and viral video.

While /730 does cook their ground beef patty-based burger on-demand, taking a bite would entail a torturous queue that may take well over an hour. To some, this constitutes a violation of basic human rights. The stall in a tent, setup at a dimly lit curbside from across a narrow road where Petron station is located in SS17, faces occasional traffic folks standing in a queue have to deal with. The provision of 2 folding tables and a few stools are about the standard norm to meet "customers' expectation".

For the uninitiated, another mobile burger stall is right next to /730 (a mere 20ft apart), known as "Man Burger" that has been in operation for well over 10 years as compared to the few months of /730's existence. Run by Encik Man and his wife who cook to perfection, quality "Ramlee" burgers for their customers with his popular choices being the chicken and beef specials (both wrapped in a layer of egg) and the "double" varieties in which two pieces of Ramlee burgers are well cooked for in a single serving filled with crunchy onion and fresh leafy green in abundance, all for RM4.50 ("special variety") or RM5.50 ("double variety"). Man's has been the obvious de facto evening burger for the residents and working class in the vicinity of SS15/16/17 on a good quality to price ratio. However, Man has not had a consistent presence on a regular basis at 7.30pm over the years and this erratic presence provided the impetus for /730 to fill the service gap in at 7.30pm.

Coming back to /730, while their burgers are patty-based, the downside is that they are a lot more oily than Man's. In addition, they deploy their own burger sauce which to me, is highly divisive and not to everyone's liking as compared to Man's basic essentials of chilli and tomato sauces with myonnaise we Malaysians, are accustomed to. But to 730's credit, they top their burger up with a slice of cheese for RM10 (as the "classic beef burger" which is the cheapest choice on 730's menu) but leafy green is a tad too little. In terms serving size, they are a better deal than McDonald's, in all fairness. On the other hand, McD's at SS15 (~350m away) offers a wholesome dining experience with their ambience, which is a lot conducive to folks who like to hang out with friends and family members in the absolute comfort and safety of an airconditioned restaurant that is hygienic and clean. More important is that McD's cheese burger has a richer beef flavor and texture by comparison.

You'd have got to subject yourself to a long, gruelling queue in what seems like eternity just to place an order; a physical challenge that warrants a subsequent visit to your chiropractor's for a much needed spinal decompression and back adjustment. While there is a QR code on site to scan for a quick online payment, 730's epic fail to take into account the need to manage queue expectation by way of an online timer for pick up may well lead to its eventual demise.

Is 730 burger a hype or a real deal? Well, you'll have to find an evening to figure it out for yourself. As for me, it was my first time and my last. Would you bring your children along and stand in a long "Q" for a bite of "the best burger"? It's just not worth it! After all, there are places in which one can enjoy a decent burger in relative comfort and safety for a few ringgit more while spending quality time with loved ones, instead of standing an hour right next to a moonsoon drain for a "just-about-above-average" burger! It's not a sustainable business model after its initial viral video hype dies down. If You dont look after your customers, you don't deserve their patronage....

After multiple occasions of attempting to try this place out, with multiple occasions of it closing prior to closing hour due to ingredients shortages (as early as an hour+ before officially closing), I finally got to try it out.

For short. It’s just disappointing. Keep more items in stock too.

I think after a streak of trying out smash burgers around Klang Valley, everyone has the tendency to just smash and pass and call it a day. You can’t call it smash burgers without your additional crust and caramelisation from the idea of it being smashed. Just call it a normal burger.

Had Double O Boo and The Prettiest Star Asides from the alright homemade sauce (which gets watered down by the grease WHICH btw is not butter but mainly oil from the fry station and overtly juice burger that almost looks and tastes boiled on one end because of the lack of caramelisation and crusting thus making it redundant to have it in the first place) and well seasoned patty, nothing stands out. Just plain soggy and not even the smokiness you’d expect from smash burgers. Nothing impresses. Everything just depresses. I came expecting good smash burger from all the raving reviews and I left questioning what the fuck is up with Malaysians taste buds for overpriced items.

I immediately went over to another new smash burger place to try that’s totally no frills and pure basic smash burger. Literally that’s the only thing on the menu. Just plain old single or double patty and is priced wayy cheaper. Basically the best thus far and underrated. Feller smash his burgers and put effort into smashing it way longer than any of the smash burger places I’ve been. Saved my sanity for the night. Could learn a...

Street burger.. The people@worker are nice & helpful.. For muslim, please come after Maghrib because the petrol pump there doesn't have a surau. The nearest is mosque that the staff will tell you. So better come after prayer. The burger is juicy because they use fresh meat. Before grill the beef patty is round shape, then they will smash to make it flat but still juicy & flavorfull. Don't ask any chili sauce@ketchup.. Why? They don't have it. They only use their secret sauce, that i think like a mix of thousand island, mayo & everything. But, their burger is awesome & tasty. I'm just try the Best seller :Say Cheese and Lord Onion.. For chicken.. They use real chicken.. For wkday, not long time to wait, but be prepared if you come on wkd....

Thumbs up, you guys nailed it!! We tried the SC, PS, Loto & KFC. With homemade patties and own secret recipes, perfectly put together to satisfy our craving for the original american burgers... all from a street burger stall! Nice and friendly crews, systematic and clean workstation, fast service, and lastly the aluminium foil wraps really keep them warmed. Few comments based on our personal preference - 1. Streaky bacons were not crunchy as expected. 2. The KFC burger was not spicy enough to call it a Korean, might need to throw in more chilies! 3. Was expecting some caramelized, crispy onions for your big L, but it was simply sauteed with mushrooms. But all was good, will definitely be back for more.. All the best!!
