Perched above the vibrant heart of Malé, Jen Shangri-La’s rooftop restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience where luxury meets thoughtful hospitality. From the moment you ascend, the panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and city skyline set a mesmerizing backdrop, while the warm, attentive staff ensures every detail feels curated.
The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between elegance and comfort. Plush seating is arranged to maximize privacy without compromising the views, and subtle Maldivian-inspired décor adds a local charm. As weather changes, soft lighting and strategically placed curtains as well as wind shields highlight the restaurant’s considerate touches.
The menu is a celebration of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, artfully prepared with global flair. Dietary preferences are seamlessly accommodated—the team proactively inquires about allergies or restrictions, crafting personalized recommendations.
What truly elevates the experience are the thoughtful arrangements: chilled towels offered upon arrival, a curated playlist enhancing the mood, and staff discreetly adjusting umbrellas to shield guests from breezes. For special occasions, today is my departure, the team surprised me with complimentary desserts adorned with heartfelt wishes.
Jen Shangri-La’s rooftop isn’t just a meal—it’s an orchestration of care, ensuring every moment feels effortless. A must-visit for travelers seeking intimacy, flavor, and Maldivian magic above...
Read moreMy only day on Malé itself was quite enjoyable and rounded off well with a dinner at Azur. I had previously done a 2h city tour and was famished. I had previously charged up with one of the lovely mocktails, gone for a swim on my return and reserved a table, just in case. It was quiet however and there were several other solo travelers so the restaurant was rather quiet. The staff were lovely and gave you time, or came at your behest of course. I decided to try their tuna tartare, which was visually incredibly pleasing as well as tasteful. It wasn't the best tuna I've ever had, but the mixture of the fish with fruits and sesame seeds and sauce was altogether enjoyable. I could not pass up the lobster main. I had ordered another of their many drinks and for those wondering there were at least 3-4 non-alxoholic beers and wines on the list as well. I didn't clearly enunciate I assume, as when I had asked for sparkling water I got coconut water, which made sense with a small confusion as to when I wanted it and found myself with both drinks, which wasn't an issue though. I enjoyed having my piece and quiet. I was satisfied and will attempt to try desserts at...
Read moreThe restaurant mentioned itself on the website with the amazing night view on the high floor, while I arrived at just 19:30 in the good weather. But I couldn’t see anything except pool. As for the food, I ordered the sushi, maki and salmon. First of all the plate is cold with the water dripping on the plate, it’s clearly shown the dish was just taken out from the fridge, which is already disappointed. Furthermore, the white vinegar and sugar put inside the sushi rice is way too much. Even when I dipped the sushi with soysauce and wasabi, I can still only feel the sweetness is covering all the other favor. The chef came out to apologize and admitted that they really put too much sugar inside the rice. I expected some service recovery should be followed without guest requested in this international brand managed by Shangri-La hotel group, while the management didn’t do anything. Staff is nice and polite, but the overall experience is awful. I will definitely not visiting again and won’t recommend anyone to...
