I would like to start this review by stating that I have visited this restaurant twice now. The first time was last year when I had the tortellini with squid ink, which was very good, but the portion size was quite small if you're hungry and looking to feel full this isn't the plate for you. This weekend, we revisited the restaurant since we had a lovely experience the first time.
However, unfortunately, I cannot say that this was the same. We ordered focaccia as a starter, but for me, it was nowhere close to traditional focaccia. Additionally, they only gave us enough focaccia for the exact number of people at our table, which was quite disappointing. The sides served with it included a salad and tomatoes, which didn't impress us at all.
For the main dish, I ordered fish and chips, which were good, but I had larger portions and better quality elsewhere. The burgers are overpriced for the portion size. One of the beef burgers was okay, nothing special, but 17 euros is too much for what you get. The chicken burger looked like something you would buy from a supermarket's frozen bag. The menu description led us to expect a fresh chicken breast, but it was disappointing.
The worst dish of all was the traditional roast pub, where the meat was so dry it seemed like it had been reheated multiple times. Additionally, this plates was missing the pudding, and we only realized this after seeing another table receive the same dish.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I was really looking forward to enjoying another dinner here, but after this horrible food experience, I won't...
Read moreWe went to The Chapels for a long overdue family get together. This venue is located inside an old brewery which has been very effectively remodelled by the brewery owners into a modern office and restaurant complex. First impressions are great, with modern on site parking and walking through the corridors to the reception area. Industrial chic is not a phrase I use often but it really suits this place. You are constantly reminded of its industrial past but everywhere has been modernised to make it an attractive and welcoming place to be. We sat indoors inside one of the "Chapels" but an outdoor Beer Garten Style area is available just outside it.
Good food selection which has a decent variety from pasta to meat dishes (I went for the Sunday roast). There is also a varied children's menu. Portion sizes are generous and the quality of the food is good. The service was also excellent, with friendly yet professional servers who, for example, proactively recommended bringing the children food first as the roasts could take some time.
Did I mention they have an onsite micro brewery with their own beers on tap? Not everything was available when I visited (I recommend to ask the servers what's on tap) but the IPA and Amber ales were really good.
I would definitely recommend this place as a great place to go for a casual meal with...
Read moreFirst time visit for Dining with friends. The restaurant is on the top of a well known Maltese beer manufacturer. On entering the restaurant one will find an indoor bar which leads to an indoor seating area and also to a huge terrace with distant views of Mdina the old capital city of Malta. The menu is vast with a great variety of food to choose from. A kids menu is available. Partial paid parking is available in this premises. To make the atmosphere more unique we were lucky to enjoy the fireworks display provided on the occasion of the St George feast of Qormi. This restaurant also has two more rooms which can be hired for private functions..Both rooms overlook the terrace . Regarding food price/portion ratio is compatible with other restaurants in the area. However given that this is a restaurant located in a beer production establishment, drink prices are on the higher side. Over all it was a nice evening and will surely return but not for...
