We had decided to book a table at Vecchia Napoli Mriehel for this year's work Christmas dinner. Before we confirmed the booking we called the restaurant to ensure that they cater for someone celiac and they confirmed they did. However, when we arrived at the venue it was a different story. The person who is celiac as a safety precaution asked once again that they cater for celiac people but they starting claiming that although they do offer gluten free food there is a risk of contamination which is fair. When we asked if at least everything is cooked separately they said that although they have gluten free options but they cook everything together in the same pot. Gluten free pasta is cooked in the same boiling pan of normal pasta and gluten free pizza is cooked in the oven with other pizza without proper paper to avoid contamination. Therefore, I don't think this is a risk that gluten free food has contamination but its an absolute occurrence that the food contain traces of gluten. It's useless having the gluten free options if you are directly and purposely contaminating them. This has led for the celiac person to leave the restaurant from the work event dinner we had organised. Such scenario could have been avoided if the restaurant is knowledgeable about food handling. Also if they told us in the first place that catering for celiac is not possible we would have seemed different alternatives. Being celiac is not an option it's a condition so having to face such scenarios in addition is heartbreaking. Hope this review is not ignored but rather used as a...
Read moreToday, Tuesday 16th March, I was really disappointed having lunch at Vecchia Napoli, Mriehel. The waitress suggested to us seabass al carticcio. I together with my missus liked the suggestion and ordered seabass. We waited a little but that is normal. Finally, the dish with fish arrived. We made cheers with the glass of wine and started to eat the fish. The size of the fish was quite good. When I ate the top part of the fish, I noticed that the inner part, the bone part, was still raw and pink. I readily called the waitress and complained about it. My missus also noted that hers was still raw too. Readily, the waitress told us that she will fix the problem. We waited. Ten minutes, fifteen minutes, twenty minutes and the fish did not appear until I finally had to stand up and make a complaint. After a while the two dishes of fish came on the table. To cut it short, when we tried to eat the remain of the fish we noticed that the fish was still underdone. We complained the mishap with the restaurant director and she offered us something else. We refused and were treated with a portion gateaux and a coffee which we accepted. We were very disappointed about this mishap. It's not nice to be...
Read moreWe recently visited Vecchia Napoli Mrieħel for a corporate lunch (30 people) and were thoroughly impressed with the experience. For just €29 per person, we enjoyed an excellent 4-course meal consisting of primi, pizza and pasta, secondi, and dessert.
The food was plentiful and delicious, with generous portions and a great variety to suit everyone's taste. They also accommodated various dietary requirements ensuring everyone could enjoy the meal. Drinks were also included, free-flowing water, soft drinks, wine, and beer were served throughout the meal up until dessert. We really appreciated the relaxed pace, with ample time between courses, making it a very enjoyable and social three-hour lunch. We also had 2 hours of free parking at Trident Park.
A special mention goes to the wonderful staff, Graziella, Rabi, and Kristina, who were incredibly hardworking, friendly, and attentive throughout. They did their utmost to accommodate us and made sure everyone was well looked after. They also gave us a complementary full bottle of digestif!
Highly recommended for group events or corporate lunches! Great value, excellent service, and a...
