Yesterday, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Pulcinella Pizzeria in Gżira, Malta. While primarily a takeaway and delivery spot, this charming eatery also offers a small seating area with 10-12 seats for those who prefer to dine in.
The culinary experience was nothing short of exceptional. The pizzas were truly outstanding! My wife chose the Pizza Wurstl, topped with mini sausages and fries. This was, without a doubt, a highlight of our meal. I opted for a gourmet pizza called Scampia, which was a masterpiece featuring mozzarella, cream of funghi, porcini mushrooms, ham flowers, Grana Padano, and basil.
To complement our meal, we enjoyed a bottle of Merlot, which paired beautifully with the pizzas.
One unique feature of Pulcinella is its gluten-free pizza option, available for a small additional charge of €3.50. The dough, as we were informed, is prepared following a strict Italian secret recipe, ensuring an authentic taste.
Although we were too full to try the desserts this time, the menu’s offerings—such as homemade tiramisu and cannoli—are incredibly tempting. These will certainly be on our list for our next visit.
Pulcinella proudly displays its accolades as one of Malta’s top pizza takeaways, and after our visit, we can wholeheartedly agree. This gem is a must-visit for pizza lovers, whether you’re dining in, ordering takeaway, or opting for delivery.

Read moreWe have ordered many times from this place and it seems to be getting worse. Several times, our pizzas, for which we normally order extra toppings, came without those toppings. Today, the pizza was burnt, and the extra toppings (for which we paid) consisted of maybe half a slice of ham cut into a few strings (on one of the pizzas), and exactly 3 slices of salami on the other. The attitude of the restaurant when receiving complaints is very bad.
Later edit: thanks to Pulcinella for the really weak reply. Yes, indeed, at least 5 orders we made were refunded for missing items. Thanks for admitting this is an issue - it really is, and requires us spending time to complain for YOUR mistakes instead of enjoying the food we PAID for. On the specific issue of the complaint, you received the pics of the half slice of ham we got on a burnt pizza for 2 euro, and the 3 salami pieces we got on the other one.... Good to know you find that these products are up to standard, in spite of this complaint and many others received from other customers who are not happy about paying 4-5 euro extra for poor (non existent) additions to their food. This certainly provides a good image of your approach to customer care. I have also added the photos with the two pizzas in question for a better...

We had an unforgettable dining experience at this pizzeria. The pizzas were simply divine. True Neapolitan style with a perfectly blistered crust, fresh ingredients, and generous portions of melted mozzarella. The Diavola had just the right kick with its spicy salami and fresh basil, while the four cheese pizza was creamy, rich, and decadent without being overwhelming.
To finish it off, we had the pistachio tiramisu, which was out of this world: creamy, nutty, and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the staff was kind and attentive. If you’re a pizza lover, this spot is a must-visit. We’ll...
