The most terrible and unfortunate culinary experience ever lived. One of the most miserable restaurants I've met in my life. We wanted to get up and leave several times, but it was one of the only restaurants open that day in Marsaxlokk. The restaurant was full of flies, the toilets looked terrible and had a strong smell, the bar was full of misery, the tables were covered with a sticky white cloth of material and many of the tables where other customers had already been were not cleared. The food could only be partially consumed. They offer from the house some bruschetta with tomatoes which unfortunately were old and have been made a long time ago, the fish soup came cold and with a strange taste, the seafood came totally unclean and in an advanced stage of spoilage, you could feel the sand everywhere, the prawns were unclean, the clams were full of impurities, the fish had no taste, it looked like it had been cooked and reheated too many times, the salad had rotten tomatoes, it looked like it was made a few days before. Most of the dishes gave the impression that they were not fresh at all. The only ones that could be eaten were grilled octopus, fresh grouper and potatoes. Although we chose with an indigestion of all the beauty. The staff of the restaurant are very rude and not so nice with clients and especially the salon manager (Rebeca) and the owner of the restaurant. Would be a lot more to say about this place, but I'll stop here. The only positive thing from this experience was the view. To be avoided this place, I do not recommend.

With many similar restaurants in the area, we picked Carrubia. Once we sat down, we noticed that our waitress was not really fluent in English but another one helped with our drink order. The staff is quite international in general (guess Russian and Indian). Unfortunately, our food order was placed (one starter, two mains) with the first waitress again - by pointing at the menu. After some free bruschetta, our food arrived. We were wondering about the huge portions; also of the sides. The food was really good. The seafood fresh. After being afraid to have ended in a tourist trap, this was a pleasant surprise. One side dish, some kind of potato and paprika stew was also really good, with a touch of Indian spices though. When asking for the check, we were told that we had three mains. While this explained the huge portions, also of the sides, the cashier insisted that we had to pay for three mains instead of the ordered starter size calamari and two mains. As we had to catch a boat, we didnt enter any discussion but cut the tipp a bit. After all, the food was really good but the service lacks quality and was also a bit slow.

It was the Sunday market and we were wandering, looking for somewhere to have a drink. . This place had just changed from drinks to lunch only, which annoyed a few people, who sat down only to leave again when told they had to order food. We decided to go for food. Menu prices were reasonable, so we ordered spaghetti marinara. We received a free piece of bread with a tomato salad, whilst waiting. The spaghetti arrived very quickly and looked good, with a generous supply of seafood. Unfortunately, both the spaghetti and some of the seafood, particularly the octopus, was quite chewy. The spaghetti could have been doing with another couple of minutes cooking, whereas the seafood probably had too much. The food was fresh, we saw a member of staff bringing fish across directly from the market, but simply didn't have enough attention paid to it. Service was the same, it was busy, but limited in its approach. We had to go to the bar to order more drinks, as we were unable to attract attention. Prices were reasonable, given how busy the market was, and the prime location. 9.95 euros for the spaghetti.

Me and my partner have been visiting Malta and decided to visit this town and grab some lunch.

We felt pressured to eat from the second we looked at the menu and felt pushed to sit down but the restaurant was in a nice location and the menu looked good.

Almost immediately, felt a bad and uncomfortable vibe from the apparent owner/manager and the way she spoke to her staff and passers by was bullish and condescending, for example snapping her fingers at one of the waiters and demanded they clean the floor and making faces at passing people that didn’t want to eat there.

We ordered; a salad, pizza and tortellini. The salad and pizza were okay and the prices were not unreasonable and we were given complementary bruschetta which was tasty. However, both me and my partner noted an extremely uncomfortable atmosphere and felt awkward to even have a conversation.

The real problems started when the Tortellini came out and was not fresh, tasteless and undercooked and not as described on them menu. My partner could not finish his dinner and the pasta was inedible due to the above.

When we asked for the bill, the manager/owner looked at my partner and asked why he didn’t finish the plate to which he replied he didn’t like it and she replied arrogantly and in a patronising tone that the pasta was fresh and nice. then she proceeds asking ‘it wasn’t of your taste huh!?’ whilst staring at him for at least 15 seconds which we have concluded to be the most awkward and painful 15 seconds of our entire holiday.

The best part of our meal was leaving the awful and aggressive atmosphere we felt there

0 (ZERO) STARS. It's a shame I am not allowed to give zero stars because, out of all the places I have been to in my life, this God-forsaken """restaurant""" deserves it.

Keep in mind that we visited Malta OFF-SEASON. The town of Marsaxlokk is as peaceful as it can get when tourists are around which means that there were only very few customers.

First of all, the cashier seemed completely lost. Could have been the fact that she was new, but had to consult the boss for each question we would ask. Secondly, the waitress would mess around, chatting with what seemed like to be her friend. She had a cigarette in her mouth all the time and did not clean the table we were sitting at. We were constantly chasing her to even order. Finally, I stood up and grabbed the menu on my own.

When the dishware finally arrived, it was DIRTY. Like 'they took it from a table where the customers had just finished eating and left' dirty. That should have been our sign to LEAVE immediately, but we were desperate enough to not eat pizza and pasta for one more time on this island.

At last, the long-awaited food was -surprise, surprise- awful. The octopus was tasteless and like eating mud. The seafood pasta would leave a disgusting taste of not fresh at all food. Coming from Greece, a country which specializes in seafood and good food in general I have to say that this was the worst seafood and worst food I have ever eaten in my life.

RUN while you can. Do not listen to other...
