Picasso — Restaurant in Sliema

We arrived here for our Valentine's meal after booking well in advance due to seeing many good reviews and videos on social media advertising it's splendour. We were only the second table in the restaurant, as we had booked an earlier time, and were seated at a table well away from the window with the best view. After asking if we could move to one of the better tables, the waitress thought about it and just moved us to a table slightly in front of the one we were already at. When two more couples arrived later on, they too were seated away from the window. Upon both couples asking to move, they were immediately seated at the tables with the best view which we had earlier requested.

When we were seated, no-one came to take a drinks order and when someone finally came to us, they had a very abrupt manner. I ordered the carbonara after seeing videos of the dish being topped with melted cheese at the table when served. When the meal arrived, this did NOT happen. During the meal, not once did anyone come to check to see if the meals were okay. After the plates were cleared, it took quite a while to flag someone down so we could get the bill (we wanted to enjoy our evening elsewhere). Once the bill came, I queried the lack of cheese show for the carbonara and was informed that the ONE person who was able to perform such a task did not arrive until after our meal was served! We then waited a further ten minutes for someone to come and take payment but no-one arrived and so we approached the till area. I explained our disappointment to the member of staff to which they apologised briefly before brushing it off by essentially saying they hope we'd let them do better next time. We will NOT be returning.

Throughout the duration of our visit, another staff member was constantly filming the waiting staff (presumably for social media) which was rather off putting. Perhaps if they paid even half of this attention to the other customers, we may have felt a little more welcome.

After leaving, we made our way back to a restaurant we had dined at the night before called TIFFANY'S BISTRO and enjoyed some delicious cocktails to revive the evening.

For a restaurant of such a calibre and price tag, we expected a lot more. The food was tasty, but the experience was truly ruined by the...

I stumbled upon this gem while walking near home, and I instantly fell in love the moment I walked in. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, and above all, the warm and welcoming staff made me feel at home from the very first visit.

I’ve lived in Malta for over a year now and tried many restaurants, but I can honestly say this is the best one I’ve experienced so far. Every dish I’ve tried has left me more and more amazed. The quality of the food is outstanding you can taste the freshness of the ingredients, especially the fish, which is cooked to perfection and never overpowered by sauces or seasoning.

The level of care they put into each plate is matched by the incredible service. You truly feel seen and cared for. Whether I’ve come with someone or dined alone, the experience has always been just as special. The staff, including the chef,constantly keep an eye on every table with kindness and attention, making sure everything is perfect without ever being intrusive. They genuinely pamper their guests.

And let’s talk about the location ..absolutely breathtaking. Right on the seafront, with a view of Valletta’s stunning cathedral lit up at night… It’s pure magic. ✨ This is more than just a place to eat , it’s a place to enjoy life, to relax, and to feel truly welcomed. This restaurant was recommended by the Concierge at Hilton Malta. Worse experience at a restaurant in Malta during our entire stay. The service was extremely slow and we waited quite some time before the waiter came to take our order while a large part seated behind us after we arrived received their food first. The restaurant was not busy at all on a Sunday night after 8pm. Concierge requested a table on the front row of the open air terrace. We were seated and the wait staff came and put 3 tables in front of ours held for diners that had not arrived. We ordered the steak with mushrooms and lamb chops. The steak was drenched in sauce and uneditable. We ordered a bottle of wine which the waiter never came to pour another glass of wine or water. The Chef passed our table 2 times checking on other diners and never acknowledged us or asked about the food. We finally decided to share the experiences with the Manager who was apologetic and offered a 10% discount and a bottle of wine. This was unacceptable since we had an half bottle of wine sitting at our table that we could have poured for ourselves since no one offered. Our last night in Malta was ruined by this experience. We are Hilton Diamond members and take the recommendations of their concierge service seriously. We will share our experience with the hotel staff as well.
