Di Carafa — Restaurant in Valletta

Was very excited to eat at this restuarnt as the menu attracted me, unfortunately my experience was terrible. The starters took 30 minutes to arrive, below average in taste although the presentation was excellent. We had planned to order a main course also but as the starters took so long we didn't have the time or patience to wait alot longer for a main course. On top of that, once we ordered drinks and starters we asked the waiter to come back in a few minutes and take our main course order but he forgot about us and ignored us for 30 minutes, making eye contact with him was impossible. So after the disappointing long awaited started we got the bill and left. It seemed the other tables ( Maltese customers) got great attentive service. Had an absolutely gorgeous meal here at Di Carafa. It's only a 2-minute walk from the main town centre of Valletta, so it's a true hidden gem on Old Bakery Street.

Family run restaurant from a well-known chef, and we received really fantastic service from both the chef and his lovely mum. From the recommendations to their good humour, we felt really well looked-after.

From an appetiser of lovely bread, a delicious homemade tomato sauce and olive oil, to the freshest calamari l've ever had and the locally-caught tuna steak (which was unbelievably good). We shared the starter (calamari between two) and I ordered the grilled tuna steak - French fries and a lovely fresh salad were included with our mains - excellent value. Just be mindful that it is cash only.

Just came back from Di Carafa. Our first visit to this restaurant but not the last one. What a pleasant surprise. Divine starters and main courses. The octopus is very special and the calamari delicious. Everything fresh. Amazing fresh fish properly cooked and served. The veal was perfectly cooked. Amazing service not to mention the wine selection. A special home made digestive was offered for free at the end that was the cherry on the cake. Tonight we had a perfect dinner in a long time.
