Unfortunately our experience was not good at all.
It all started when we got served 3 negroni which we literally not drinkable. This had nothing to do with the taste or even the bitterness of the alcohol. For some reason the drink was awful and it was not just mine but the whole group had issues with it. When I informed our waitress her answers was literally unhelpful and to be fair I was a bit shocked. First of all she said that “this is how we make it here” which all bartenders in the world will agree that there is one way to make a classic negroni but anyway. I explained polite that this has nothing to do with her technique but something was way off. Then she went to her manager to ask on how to proceed and when she came back she suggested to give us shakers and tonic so we can mix it our self 😒. This got me in a shock. I did not know how to respond to that. First time in my life in a good restaurant I had this interaction. Mix a negroni with tonic and also DIY? If I needed something like that I would have chosen a student location where I could easily could had a drink like that for half price. This obviously ruined all our mood.
To add to my 2 star review the toilet were simple the worst. The smell was awful and as you can see in the photos very dirty. This is unacceptable for a good restaurant that is so pricy!!!
The dishes were good. Only one salad as a choice in the menu which we added a good quality burrata. For mains we got a local Maltese plate called Bragioli which was very good prepared, pumpkin Mac and cheese which was also good and spaghetti fruit di Mare which was also ok but nothing extraordinary. We wanted to order dessert but after our interactions we simple wanted to leave as fast as possible.
For me this interaction was very rude and unprofessional. As you can see in the receipt they changed the drinks. We never wanted to cause a scene so we left but I believe in a good restaurant with such a hype the polite thing is to either ask if the customer wants something else to drink or do not charge him for the drinks that he returned. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if we would tell them if one of the dishes was off. Maybe they would suggested that we go cook it...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant right at noon when they had just opened, so we were the first ones there — service was fast and efficient from the start. The staff were very friendly, and they even charged my phone, which was really nice of them.
We ordered a Maltese platter called “Ikla Biż-żejt, Maltese Miz”, and it was exactly what we were looking for — a great variety of local specialties, perfectly portioned for two people to share. It arrived reasonably fast, tasted really good, and was more than enough for us, though it seems that for locals it might just be an appetizer before a bigger meal!
We also had two bottles of water, and the total was €30, which we found very fair for the quality and quantity. Both card and cash are accepted.
Highly recommended — great service, authentic local food, and a pleasant,...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this restaurant on the afternoon of Notte Bianca. Valetta was packed with tourists and locals. We arrived just as they were closing for the afternoon and before the evening service, but they kindly kept the kitchen open to serve us. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. My rabbit arancini was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The fish was perfectly cooked en papillote with thyme, fennel, parsley and cherry tomatoes. My husband's swordfish was also cooked to perfection, filleted and served with a tomato and caper to the side. The wine was excellent and reasonably priced. All in all, a perfect late lunch. Thoroughly recommend this small but...
